… Daini Applauds LASAA for Thinking Outside the Box with School Bag Initiative

The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) in collaboration with the Omadada Foundation, distributed durable school bags and educational materials to pupils of Methodist Primary School in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, today 30th of April.
The Managing Director of LASAA, Prince Fatiu Akinolu, stated that the bags are made from flex materials commonly used for advertising and billboards, which are often discarded and contribute to environmental pollution. He noted that this initiative aims to promote sustainability and reduce waste in the environment.
Prince Akinolu encouraged the public to bring any flex materials they come across to LASAA’s offices, where they will be repurposed into school bags and other useful items. This initiative is part of LASAA’s efforts to give back to the community and promote environmental sustainability.
The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Builder Olusesan Daini, expressed his gratitude to the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) for their innovative initiative to distribute school bags and educational materials to pupils in the area.
Daini praised LASAA’s Managing Director, Prince Fatiu Akinolu, for thinking outside the box and finding a creative solution to reuse flex materials that would otherwise be discarded. He noted that this initiative is a testament to the agency’s commitment to promoting sustainability and giving back to the community.
The Chairman, who ststated he has less than 90 days in office, expressed his delight in witnessing this kind of initiative for the first time in the Local Government. He commended Prince Akinolu and LASAA for their competence and capability in handling their constitutional responsibilities.
Daini urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the materials. He also encouraged LASAA to explore other income-generating opportunities using the same materials, while commending them for their sacrifice and support for the country.
Hon. Omoniyi Dada, the founder of Omo Daadaa Foundation, stated that the foundation focuses on education, which is very pivotal and critical to their mission. They aim to carry out at least three to five programs annually, but since partnering with LASAA on the school bag project, they have been able to consistently distribute bags almost every quarter.
Dada revealed that they have already distributed over 1,500 bags and are looking to do more. The initiative has not only supported education but has also created employment opportunities for youths who are involved in recycling the flex materials into school bags. Currently, over 20 people are employed in the process, from tailors to those who fix zips.
With the election season approaching, Dada expects to collect a large amount of flex materials from campaign banners, which will enable them to produce more bags. The foundation is targeting to distribute over 10,000 school bags by September, and they are counting on collaboration with local governments to achieve this goal.
Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, the member representing Ikorodu constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, was represented by Hon. Ade Bolowotan, the Director-General of Smile Foundation, In his remarks, he expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) and Omo Daadaa Foundation for bringing the initiative to their local government. He noted that the program will be beneficial to the children, and appreciated the organizations for their efforts.
The distribution is part of a larger effort, with about 1,500 bags already given out in seven schools. The collaboration with the Omadada Foundation has enabled LASAA to reach more pupils and make a positive impact on the community by providing them with essential educational materials.
