Rep. Babajimi Benson, Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, has been honored with the 2024 Ikorodu Man of the Year Award by Starlight Newspaper. This prestigious award comes just two months after he received the Representative of the Year award at the This Day Awards 2025, held at Eko Hotels and Suites.

In his acceptance speech, Rep. Benson expressed gratitude to his constituents, traditional rulers, political leaders, and community leaders for their unwavering support. He attributed his success to the collective efforts of the people of Ikorodu, emphasizing that the award belonged to everyone, not just him.

Rep. Benson highlighted Ikorodu’s progressive history, noting that despite Having the few polling units in lagos state we always deliver for the Progressives most especially the 2023 general election gave the highest vote for the President while came third in the Governorship

He credited this success to the people’s dedication and urged them to maintain this momentum, particularly in the 2027 elections.

Rep. Benson also pledged to work with incoming Local Government Chairmen to ensure Ikorodu takes its rightful place among Lagos State’s local governments. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between government officials and the community to drive progress.

HRM Oba Abdulkabir Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, presented the award to Rep. Benson, praising his dedication to promoting Ikorodu’s interests and his numerous good works in the constituency. Oba Shotobi advocated for an Ikorodu indigene to be considered for Governor in 2027 and urged party leaders to support this initiative.
