Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government,  commissioned three newly constructed roads in Ifako and Ojota today, March 14th, as part of his efforts to deliver on its campaign promises.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Barr. Ogunlewe explained that the roads were part of his led Administration’s commitment of providing infrastructure that would improve the lives of residents. “Government is about delivering promises that you have made while you were campaigning. And so what you saw today was also part of what we promised to people at our Local Government,” he said.

The newly constructed roads, which comprise two culverts, four side drainages, and a long stretch of asphalt, are expected to improve revenue for local businesses and enhance the overall quality of life for residents. The roads commissioned include Ilawe Road, Lateef Dosunmu Road in Ifako, and Musa Adewokun Road in Ojota.

In addition to the commissioned roads, the chairman also inspected ongoing projects in the area, including the construction of Ibrahim Onasokun Road, which is expected to be completed soon.

Barr. Ogunlewe also announced that the local government has constructed nearly 40 roads so far, with several more projects in the pipeline. “We will continue to deliver infrastructural development for the people of this community,” he pledged. Other ongoing projects mentioned by the chairman include the construction of Frank Obazor Road and Roju Avenue, as well as the installation of street lights on several roads.

The chairman also highlighted the local government’s efforts in the education sector. According to him, the local government has built a new block of classrooms at Mosafejo Primary School, complete with furniture and other essential facilities. Plans are also underway to build a new school in Ifako. “We have built one in Mosafejo Primary School, as we speak, with ten blocks of classrooms and then we’ve completed and we’ve also furnished it with proper classroom chairs and tables,” he said.

Barr. Ogunlewe emphasized that development is a gradual process, but assured residents that his administration is committed to delivering on its promises. “Development doesn’t come at once, it’s something that you plan for it and then you keep doing as much as you can. Don’t also forget that we cannot finish or we cannot do all these things at once, it’s a step-by-step thing and by God’s grace, we’ll make sure that we get to everywhere,” he said.

The chairman’s commitment to delivering infrastructural development has been welcomed by residents, who have praised his administration’s efforts to improve their living conditions. With several more projects in the pipeline, residents of Kosofe Local Government can look forward to even more improvements in the coming months.

Mr. Olayinka Ogunmekan, an elder in Ilawe community, expressed relief that the road has finally been constructed, ending years of suffering for residents.

According to Mr. Ogunmekan, the construction of the new road is expected to bring significant benefits to the community, including reduced repair costs for vehicles and a boost to local economic activity. With the improved infrastructure, residents and passersby alike will enjoy a smoother and more convenient travel experience, a development that has left Mr. Ogunmekan and the entire community grateful.

According to Mr. Jamiu Talabi, Chairman of Ojota West Community Development Association (CDA), the community is extremely happy with the gesture, as it is the first time they are witnessing such a project since the inception of Kosofe Local Government. He noted that this project is a significant milestone for the community.

The CDA Chairman praised Barr. Ogunlewe for proving himself to be a leader who delivers on his promises, earning him the reputation as a “talk and do” Chairman.

He highlighted that the road, which was previously in a terrible condition, has been transformed with the construction of drainage and asphalt. Talabi stated that the community is now enjoying the benefits of the new road.
