The Pedro Community in Ward E, Bariga, Lagos, was abuzz, 2nd of February when Tunde Balogun, a Councillorship hopeful under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Bariga Local Council, Hon. Alabi Kolade David, brought a free healthcare program to their doorstep.

The medical outreach, held at Pedro Primary School, was tagged the ‘Tunde Balogun Health Initiative’ and was conducted in partnership with the Great Impact Foundation.

The program featured free medical services such as health screenings, eye screenings, blood sugar level checks, dental services (including scaling and polishing of teeth), medication dispensing, and the distribution of reading glasses.

According to the convener of the initiative, Ogbeni Tunde Balogun, the program was an avenue to give back to the community. He stated, “When the people are healthy, the nation is healthy. In Bariga Local Council, people’s healthcare is one of the cardinal areas of focus of the Hon. Alabi Kolade David administration. It is our topmost priority. We are passionate about people’s welfare.
“We desire to build and sustain a valuable healthcare program for our people. With what we are doing here today, we have created awareness for the people to know their health status and provided solutions to their health challenges.”

A beneficiary, Mrs. Arowole Sikiratu, commended the organizers for the initiative, promising to use the dispensed medications as prescribed. She expressed satisfaction with the way patients were attended to, noting that the program had helped her become more aware of her health status.

Over One Hundred beneficiaries were attended to at the program, the convener promised to facilitate more impactful projects to the Ward.
