Hon. Abdulkareem Olugbenga Shittu, the 2023 House of Representatives PDP candidate for Ikorodu federal constituency, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with hundreds of his supporters.

The defection took place at the APC LGA meeting held at Oke Ota Ona, Ikorodu. Shittu was warmly received into the party by Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Alhaji Cubano, Alhaji Animashaun, the Party Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, among other party leaders. Prior to his official defection he has consulted with leadership of the party in Ikorodu Central and other Apex bodies.

In his remarks, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye thanked Shittu for bringing a massive number of supporters to the APC, urging them to follow the party’s vision. He also addressed aspirants, emphasizing that only one person per seat would be chosen as the party’s candidate in Ikorodu Division.

Shittu shared his reasons for defecting, citing the futility of his previous efforts to win the election under the PDP. He praised the APC’s impressive work, particularly that of the House of Representatives member, which resonated with the populace during the election.

Alhaji Cubano applauded Shittu and other PDP members who defected to the APC, saying they have joined a progressive party with prospects. He urged other PDP members to follow suit and join the winning party.

Alhaji Animashaun, the APC Chairman in Ikorodu Central, He urged members to obtain their PVCs and membership cards, emphasizing the importance of being prepared for future elections, he thanked Senator Abiru, Babajimi Benson, Dr. Agbaje, Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina and others for their support to the party.

Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, highlighted his administration’s achievements, including numerous projects and initiatives that have benefited the people of Ikorodu Local Government. He also announced plans to support aged residents, calling on ward chairmen to provide lists of 20 aged residents per ward.

The event concluded with a call to action, encouraging party members to remain steadfast and patient, while also adhering to party instructions.
