Rep. Babajimi Benson, Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, yesterday, January 18, 2025, commissioned the 3.6km Eruwen road, which connects 7 communities, with over 17 CDAs, after 32 years of neglect.
Speaking at the event, Benson expressed his gratitude to GAC leaders and other stakeholders, including Hon. Kolade Alabi, Chairman of Conference 57 in Lagos State. He highlighted Ikorodu’s significant contribution to the presidential election, stating that the constituency delivered the highest votes for the President in the entire country.
Benson emphasized that despite this achievement, Ikorodu’s allocation from the Joint Account (JAC) does not reflect its eminence in Lagos State. He requested that they should consider Ikorodu’s special status when sharing the JAC.
In response, Hon. Kolade Alabi commended Benson for his efforts in Ikorodu Federal Constituency. Alabi revealed that during his tenure as ALGON President, Ikorodu Local Government moved from receiving negative allocations to getting substantial funds.
Benson continued, stating that Ikorodu is not seeking undue favors but rather fair recognition for its contributions. He thanked the Erunwen community for their support and announced plans to extend infrastructure development to other areas, including Radio Community.
The lawmaker revealed that the President has instructed him to continue connecting roads in Ikorodu, with 22 ongoing projects yet to be commissioned. He listed several projects, including a bridge at Ogolonto, Agbede, Kokoro Abu, and Igbo Oliwo.
Benson also disclosed that the Tax and VAT generated by companies in the Odogunyan Industrial Estate will remain with Ikorodu North LCDA, rather than being allocated to Lagos State. This, he believes, will provide a significant financial boost to the next administration.

According to Apanishile, the road, which was previously impassable, has transformed the lives of residents, providing easy access to surrounding areas. “Before now, we couldn’t pass through this road, and we had to go through Radio,” he explained. “It’s also just a 5-minute walk to Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, which is Igbe road, also constructed by Rep. Benson.”
