
The Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, earlier today 7th of January, commissioned the Igbe Ogunro Model Primary School, a block of six classrooms, ICT room, and office. In the same vein, she distributed educational materials and school uniforms to the pupils. The project, conceived and completed by the current administration, demonstrates its commitment to providing quality education to future leaders.
According to Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba, the administration’s focus is on development and improving the quality of life for Ijede LCDA residents. Education is a key policy framework, and this project aims to meet the needs of the Igbe Communities of Ogunro, Kapo, and Oloja, who previously had to travel far to access education.
The school features well-ventilated classrooms equipped with standard furniture, toilets, a borehole with a reservoir, fans, and a green area. The Chairman emphasized that education is crucial for lifting families out of poverty and that the administration has demonstrated this by providing educational materials, including new school uniforms, to pupils each academic session.
The administration has recorded several achievements in the education sector, including:
– Complete Renovation of Ijede Library: Transforming it into a modern facility that surpasses learning and community engagement.
– Annual JAMB Forms Distribution: Providing opportunities for indigent students to access higher education.
– Back to School Packs: Easing the financial burden on parents and ensuring more children have access to education.
– Support for Teachers and Students: Including bursary awards, education merit awards, and annual children’s day celebrations.
– Support for NUT Teachers’ Day Celebration
– Support for Inter-House Sports Competitions
– Support for Inter-School Indoor Games Competition, such as Scrabble and Chess, helping students develop critical thinking and strategic planning skills
– Bursary Award to Indigent Students
– Education Merit Award to encourage teachers and pupils in public schools in the LCDA
– Annual Children’s Day Celebration
– Award of N1 Million to the best graduating student from the Lagos State University
– Repair and construction of damaged fence at Luwasa Secondary School and Anwar-ul-Islam Primary School
She commended the Igbe community for their patience during the project and urged teachers, staff, and students to take ownership of the new facilities and work together to maintain them. She reiterated the administration’s commitment to making decisions that positively impact the people of Ijede LCDA.
“We would continue to arrive at the best decisions that will positively affect the good people of Ijede LCDA,” Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba said. “Finally, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, let’s continue to work together to provide our children with the education they deserve and to empower them to become the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow.”
Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ikorodu Constituency 2, commended the efforts of Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), for the newly commissioned Igbe Ogunro Model Primary School.
The lawmaker expressed his excitement about the new school, stating that it will provide a conducive learning environment for the children. He noted that the project demonstrates the administration’s commitment to education and the well-being of its residents.
As a representative of Ikorodu Constituency 2, Hon. Aro Moshood said he is proud of the Chairman for this initiative, which will shape the future of the children in the Local Government. He urged the pupils, teachers, and parents to make the most of this opportunity, emphasizing the importance of quality education in ensuring that children grow up to become responsible and productive members of society.
The Head Teacher of the school, Mr. Abdul Olalekan, expressed his gratitude to the Chairman for the new facilities. “We are glad to have this modern school, which will enhance the learning experience of our pupils. We appreciate the Chairman’s commitment to education and look forward to making good use of these facilities.”
The Parents Forum Chairman, also thanked the Chairman for the project. “This school is a dream come true for us as parents. We are grateful for the administration’s efforts to provide our children with a conducive learning environment. We promise to support the school and ensure that our children make the best use of these facilities.”
A pupil, Olumide Oyedele, spoke on behalf of his fellow pupils. “We are very happy to have this new school. The classrooms are beautiful, and we have new furniture and toilets. We thank the Executive Chairman for giving us this wonderful gift. We promise to study hard and make our parents and the Chairman proud.”
