The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu Local Branch, on 31st of December 2024 held its Annual Congress and End-of-the-Year Party, bringing together youth leaders, stakeholders, and dignitaries for a day of reflection, celebration, and future planning.

The event kicked off with the Annual Congress, where the council presented its Activities and Financial Report for the Year. The report highlighted significant accomplishments in youth empowerment, community service, and partnership initiatives, demonstrating the council’s commitment to effective leadership and responsible governance.

One of the key highlights of the Congress was the official launch of the Wadesh Ikorodu City Marathon, a landmark initiative introduced to honor the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina. The marathon aims to promote youth engagement, sports development, and community pride.

In recognition of Hon. Wasiu Adeshina’s unwavering support and contributions to youth development, the council presented him with a special gift. This gesture underscored the strong partnership between the council and the local government in advancing youth and community interests.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government; Comr. Biliamin Oba, Senior Special Assistant on Social Development to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Taiwo Odumbo Principal LASU Secondary School, Prince Adekunle Eniola Bada, Comr. Asoro, Vice Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (Lagos East).

The Congress transitioned into the End-of-the-Year Party, a lively celebration filled with music, games, and awards to honor outstanding contributions by individuals and groups throughout the year. The party provided an opportunity for members and guests to unwind and strengthen bonds in a relaxed atmosphere.

Comr. Basit Ogunsanmi, the Coordinator NYCN Ikorodu Local Branch expressed gratitude to all attendees and reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and community growth. With the successful launch of new initiatives and a robust plan for the upcoming year, the council remains poised to make even greater strides in its mission.
