
Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, the Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), earlier today 23rd of December presented the 2025 budget proposal to the Legislative Arm of Ijede LCDA. Tagged “Budget of Economic Planning and Community Development,” the proposed budget totals ₦3,760,430,641.92, representing a 30% increase from the 2024 approved budget.
Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba emphasized that the budget focuses on five key areas: Poverty Alleviation, Welfare, Infrastructural Development, Education, and Healthcare. According to her, “Poverty Alleviation” will involve investing in initiatives and skill acquisition to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation.
The Chairman noted that the “Welfare” aspect of the budget will include periodic cash transfers and support for vulnerable groups, including widows, elders, children, and others. She also highlighted the importance of “Infrastructural Development,” which will involve improving public facilities, streetlights, water supply, and road construction.
She stated that the proposed budget allocates 36% for capital expenditure, 30% for personnel costs, and 34% for overhead costs. The revenue budget is expected to come from statutory allocation (5%), VAT (82%), FAAC-related funds (9%), state grants (0.27%), and internally generated revenue (4%).
Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba emphasized her administration’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability, ensuring that every naira is allocated effectively and efficiently to meet the needs of the people. She solicited the support and cooperation of the legislative council for the speedy passage of the appropriation bill.
Hon. Fadėyi Kehinde Abiodun, the Council Leader of the Ijede Legislative Arm, expressed his joy at this milestone and emphasized that the proposed budget is designed not only to address the needs of the present administration but also to lay the groundwork for the incoming administration, as its implementation will span across two governance periods.
The Council Leader highlighted the constitutional obligation of presenting the budget to the Legislative Arm, a tradition that has become an annual ritual in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Lagos State Administrative Laws. This process ensures that the legislative arm, composed of representatives from various wards, plays a crucial role in scrutinizing the budget to meet legal requirements and public needs.
He acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the administration led by Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba and the Legislative Arm, noting that the successful transition of ideas into reality is a testament to their cooperative spirit. The budget aims to reflect the interests and needs of the community, navigating through the developmental strides of the administration effectively.
In attendance were the executives, management, traditional leaders, party leaders, CDC, religious leaders, youth leaders, and other stakeholders.
