
In a bid to alleviate the economic burden on residents, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo of Ifelodun LCDA has successfully implemented a massive empowerment and food palliative program. The event, which took place on November 28, 2024, at the Nigerian Army Signal Barracks, Mile 2, saw thousands of beneficiaries, including artisans, traders, and business owners, receive vital support in the form of empowerment items, cash gifts, and food packages.
This is a testament to Okeowo’s commitment to fostering socio-econimic welfare of Ifelodun residents as the program witnessed distribution of range of empowerment items such as; Mini Buses (Korope), Tricycles (Keke Marwa), Baking Flour, Blood Pressure Monitors, Cattle Feeds, Sewing Machines, Cover Button Machines, Deep Freezers, Fish Feeds, Gel Nail Dryers, Generators, Grinding Machines, Grinding/Grilling Machines, Hair Straighteners, Hair Tonging Tools, Inner Weaving Equipment, Hair Clippers, 6kg Gas Cylinders, Makeup Kits, Minerals, Noodles, Popcorn Machines, Poultry Feed, Salon Mask Hand Dryers, Hair Washing Basins, Sterilizers, Stoning Machines, Artisans’ Toolboxes, Vulcanizing Machines, Welding Machines; food palliative packages for 1,500 residents, cash support of ₦50,000 each to 100 petty traders and ₦10,000 each to 500 vulnerable youths, aged residents, and 200 young families across the community.
Mayor Okeowo emphasized the importance of empowering residents to take control of their lives. He urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity and use the empowerment items and cash assistance to improve their lives and the lives of those around them.
Mayor Okeowo also cautioned the beneficiaries against selling the equipment, saying “I urge you all not to sell the equipment, rather use them to turn things around in your lives. This is an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and create a better future for yourselves and your families.”
Mayor Okeowo expressed his gratitude to party leaders, colleagues, and residents whose commitment has contributed to the recorded progress so far, noting that there’s more to expect in the coming year.

Beneficiaries of the mega empowerment program commended the Council Mayor for his kindness and generosity.
“This program has brought hope and joy to our lives,” said one of the beneficiaries. “We are grateful to Mayor Okeowo for his kindness and generosity. This empowerment program will go a long way in improving our lives and the lives of our families.”
Another beneficiary praised Mayor Okeowo for his commitment to the welfare of the people. “Mayor Okeowo has shown that he truly cares about the people of Ifelodun LCDA,” she said. “This empowerment program is a testament to his dedication to improving the lives of our people.”
The beneficiaries promised to make good use of the empowerment items and cash assistance, and to use the opportunity to turn their lives around.
