The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has strongly condemned a recent publication by The Impact News, labeling it as “unprofessional journalism” filled with inaccuracies and sensationalism. The publication in question centered on the transition of market leadership within the LCDA.
According to Oluwaseun Ajayi, Chief Press Secretary to Builder Olusesan Daini, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, the report was a deliberate attempt at character assassination. Ajayi emphasized the need for clarity and a refutation of the misleading assertions.
Mr. James Kakawa, Board Director and Secretary, clarified that upon the passing of an incumbent Iyaloja, the Deputy Iyaloja-General assumes the role of Acting Iyaloja-General to maintain continuity and order. Contrary to The Impact News’ claims, the Adeboruwa Palace was duly informed of the meeting.
Kakawa also addressed claims of political bias, stating that decisions regarding market leadership are based on merit, due process, and the need for order and development within the LCDA. The appointment of Chief (Mrs.) Oyesanya was misrepresented as a substantive position, when in fact it was an acting capacity to ensure continuity while the selection process for a substantive Iyaloja-General is ongoing.
The LCDA chairman holds the Adeboruwa Palace in high esteem and is committed to fostering harmonious relationships with traditional institutions. The Impact News’ narrative of a “face-off” between the chairman and the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo is baseless and misleading.
The administration calls on The Impact News to cease sowing discord and engaging in character assassination, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing facts, fairness, and the collective interest of the community. Despite baseless allegations and unprofessional reporting, the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA remains committed to upholding the law, maintaining order, and fostering development.
