The Igbogbo Youth Coalition (IYC) officially swore in its new executives on Saturday, 19th of October, pledging continuous community service in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.

Dr. Adeleke Dankuwo, a medical practitioner and community developer, takes the reins as President.

Dr. Dankuwo will be joined by a dynamic team of leaders committed to driving positive change within the community. Idris Feyipitan and Abiodun Awosanya will serve as Vice Presidents 1 and 2, respectively. Oke Toyib will serve as General Secretary, with Abdul Adesola Toheebat as General Secretary 2.

Ogunbanwo Damilola will oversee the coalition’s finances as Treasurer, supported by Abdulrasaq Lateef as Financial Secretary. Amusa Adebayo and Adebusayo Odivbri have been tasked with coordinating projects, while Faniyi Omolara will focus on welfare.

Aliu Mubarak assumed role as Publicity Officer, with Kuti Damilare serving as Chief Whip, Amokunmosa Rhoda will provide expert legal guidance as Legal Advisor.

Renowned expert and Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) lecturer, Dr. Oluwole Ogunyemi, delivered a thought-provoking lecture His address, titled “Every Endeavour and Adventure of Man is Centered on Socio-Cultural and Economic Prosperity,” emphasized the intricate relationships between socio-cultural and economic development.

Dr. Ogunyemi’s lecture highlighted the significance of these factors in shaping individual and collective progress. He encouraged the new executives and members to recognize the importance of their roles in driving positive change within their community.

As the guest speaker, Dr. Ogunyemi challenged the youth to take ownership of their future, emphasizing that literature and art can provide valuable insights into addressing societal challenges. He urged them to harness their potential, foster collaboration, and strive for excellence in all aspects of life.

Hon. Adebimpe Akinshola, former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency 2, In her inspiring remarks, she congratulated the new team and urged them to become exemplary ambassadors of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, making the community proud.

Akinshola emphasized the importance of expanding the coalition’s membership, particularly among young people. She noted that many youths are in need of guidance and support, and by bringing them into the fold, the coalition can be a life-changing force in their lives.

She also encouraged the youths to join politics, highlighting it as a platform to shape their own futures and contribute to the community’s development.

Mr. Kazeem Ogunmuyiwa, immediate past President, presented a comprehensive report of his achievements in office.

In his inaugural speech, titled “United for a Brighter Future,” He emphasized the power of unity and collective effort in transforming the community.

Dr. Dankuwo outlined his vision for the coalition, promising to improve professional education, advocate for developmental projects, foster inclusiveness, and enhance member wellbeing.

He also committed to upholding core values of accountability, transparency, honesty, and collaboration.

The new president acknowledged the challenges facing the community but emphasized the opportunities for growth and innovation.

He praised the support of members, both at home and abroad, and pledged to leverage connections and networks to drive positive change.

He urged members to stand together, support one another, and build a brighter future for themselves, their families, and the community.

Representing Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom High Chief Tajudeen Onasanya emphasized the crucial role of the new executives in piloting change within the kingdom. He noted that as role models, the younger generation looks up to them for guidance and inspiration.

Mr. Adeniran Kasali, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, he encouraged the new executives and members to strive for excellence, stressing the importance of their contributions to the community’s growth and development.

Mr. Kasali highlighted the need for education, empowerment, and community development, emphasizing that these areas are critical to the Igbogbo-Baiyeku progress.
