Lion Funmilola Dada installed as the 20th President of the Ikorodu Diamond Lions Club on September 8th, in a ceremony officiated by Lion Folashade Shotomide, District Governor of Lions District 404-A3 Nigeria.

District Governor, 404-A3 Nigeria, Lion Dr. Folasade Shotomide, congratulated Lion Funmilola Dada on her investiture and installation as Club President.

In her speech, Dr. Shotomide expressed her warmest congratulations to Lion Dada and other newly installed club officers. She emphasized her excitement to work alongside them to achieve greatness.

“Our theme for this year is ‘Excellence in Service,’ and I am committed to supporting each of you in your efforts to make a meaningful impact in our communities,” She said.

Referencing International President Fabricio Oliveira’s charge to “Make Our Mark,” Dr. Shotomide reaffirmed her commitment to leaving a lasting legacy through exceptional service.

Dr. Shotomide urged Lion Dada and her team to:

– Strive for excellence in every aspect of service
– Innovate and support one another
– Celebrate diversity and honor heritage
– Dream big and make a lasting impact

The investiture ceremony marked the beginning of Lion Dada’s tenure as Club President, with Dr. Shotomide pledging her support and guidance throughout the year.

“Congratulations once again, Lion Funmilola Dada. I look forward to working with you and witnessing the incredible impact we will make together,” Dr. Shotomide concluded.

In her acceptance speech, Lion Dada expressed her gratitude and humility, saying, “I hereby accepty to serve as the President of Ikorodu Diamond Lions Club. I feel so humbled and honoured to have been elected by all members of my noble Club.” She congratulated the Immediate Past President, Lion Adenaike Adenike, NLCF, and past presidents for their dedication and service.

Lion Funmilola Dada shared her vision for the club, emphasizing its commitment to serving humanity. She highlighted Lions International’s 107-year history, founded by Melvin Jones in 1917, and its mission to empower members, volunteers, and partners to improve health, well-being, and communities. “The Club provides service to all every day and everywhere,” she said.

She outlined the club’s focus areas, citing Lions International’s global causes: Vision, Humanitarian, Youth, Environment, Diabetes, Cancer, Hunger, and Disaster. “Serving humanity is our core goal,” she emphasized.

Lion Funmilola Dada announced the club’s flagship initiative, the Ikorodu Diamond Lions Club House-Youth Activities Centre, and plans to complete the project this Lions Year. Other scheduled projects include:

– 10 computers for youth training (IT empowerment)
– Free eye screening for 300 people
– Free eye glasses for 250 people
– Cataract surgery for 30 people
– Donation of 5 wheelchairs to the General Hospital, Ikorodu
– Donation of medical instruments to the health centre, Ibese
– Diabetes screening for 400 people

Lion Funmilola Dada appealed for donations and support, saying, “We are unable to accomplish these projects on our own. Your contributions will be used carefully as we make our mark with excellence in service.” She invited individuals and organizations to support the club’s community projects through donations and partnerships.

The installation ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, Lions leaders, Leos, friends, and family members. Lion Funmilola Dada thanked everyone for their presence and support.

The Ikorodu Diamond Lions Club, under Lion Funmilola Dada’s leadership, invites individuals and organizations to support their community projects through donations and partnerships. Contributions will directly impact the lives of many people in need.
