
Prince Oladega Ibrahim Kehinde, a multi-talented individual and prince of the ancient Agboyi Kingdom in Lagos State, recently showcased his acting prowess in a stage play titled ‘Abibatu Mogaji’ at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock.
The play, which honored the life and legacy of President Bola Tinubu’s mother, was performed before an audience of dignitaries, including the President himself.
Prince Oladega, fondly called Dega, brought his wealth of experience as a broadcaster, Master of Ceremony, and political strategist to the role, playing the character of President Tinubu with remarkable precision. His performance earned him applause from the audience and praise from the President himself.
The play, written and directed by Ola Awakan and Dr. Ahmed Yerima, respectively, chronicles the life of Abibatu Mogaji, a woman of substance who left an indelible mark on her family, community, and nation.
President Tinubu, who was visibly moved by the performance, pledged to invest in the arts and culture sector, recognizing its importance in educating the younger generation and preserving history.
In his remarks, the President thanked the producers and cast for their hard work and dedication, saying, “I will invest in this play; nothing could have been better than rewarding a very thorough research.”
He also commended the play’s ability to convey the lessons of history through re-enactment, saying, “Theatre conveys lessons from history; I’m so grateful to all of you for sharing your evening to celebrate my mother, a great woman.”
The play’s producer, Ola Awakan, expressed his gratitude to the President for the opportunity to stage the play at the Presidential Villa, saying, “The character of the president’s late mother embodies essential qualities crucial for societal development, and we aim to immortalize her legacy and inspire generations of Nigerians.”
