Sanwo-Olu Commissions SAIL Innovation Lab; Shettima Commends Senator Abiru, Wife ~Ajasa-Info

The Board of Trustees, SAIL Foundation, has officially launched the SAIL Innovation Lab facility in Ikorodu, Lagos State on Friday. The facility, which provides in-demand tech skills to motivated youths within the senatorial district, is an initiative by Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru and his wife, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru. 

In attendance at the official commissioning of the facility were prominent personalities including His Excellency, the Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima; His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu; members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC); some members of the Lagos State Executive Council; royal fathers ; community leaders, as well as corporate and technical partners. Selected participants from previous cohorts of the programmes offered at the lab were also present to witness the commissioning.

The Vice President-elect who had earlier visited before the arrival of Governor Sanwo-Olu, in his goodwill remarks, commended Senator Abiru and his wife, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, who is also Co-founder, for the initiative and expressed his confidence in the huge success stories that the innovation lab will birth in the coming days.  

Senator Shettima said, “ I was overwhelmed with what I saw. It is a world class facility, erected within the community for the betterment of the community people which is the hallmark of leadership, the epitome of trailblazing service to humanity. I want to commend Senator Abiru and his wife”.  

Delivering his keynote address, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to the entire Abiru family for carrying on with the legacy of service of their late patriarch, Senator (Honourable Justice) Mubasheer Akanbi Abiru.

Commending the effectiveness of public-private partnerships in scaling up the impacts of initiatives like the SAIL Innovation Lab, Governor Sanwo-Olu  also went further to convey the commitment of his administration to ensure that Lagos State continues to set the pace in the tech space in Nigeria and on the continent.

Respected figures in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem commended the vision of SAIL founders. They averred that the SAIL Innovation Lab holds great prospects for sustainable empowerment of young people in the Lagos East Senatorial District and beyond. Dr Bosun Tijani, Co-founder of Co-Creation Hub, and a Trustee of SAIL Foundation, the owners of the lab, expressed confidence in the success of the SAIL Innovation Lab.

He said, “ It is our young people that drive innovation and growth. We have to engage and empower them to be able to do this driving. There are numerous people doing amazing things. It is what these people are doing that will drive innovation in our community. That is why the SAIL Innovation Lab is special. Young people in Lagos East Senatorial District will start to build solutions . The Fourth Industrial revolution is here. The future we are looking up to is already being controlled by technology. We have to participate and if not, it will be second level colonisation”. 

Microsoft Country Manager, Ms Ola Williams  was thrilled by the passion the Distinguished Senator  has for young people. He and his wife, through SAIL, have provided a platform for enduring and sustainable development.  She revealed that Microsoft was willing to synergize with the SAIL for greater impact.

Meta (Facebook) Head of Public Policy in Nigeria, Adaora Oshodi-Ikenze,  described SAIL Innovation Lab facility as worldclass. She said the facility and the  quality of faculty can stand shoulder to shoulder with any Innovation Lab in the world. 

Managing Director, Bank of Industries, Mr Olukayode Pitan said the SAIL Innovation Lab demonstrates Senator Abiru’s passion for youth development and capacity building. He added that the Innovation Lab will impact greatly on the people of Lagos East Senatorial District.    

The SAIL Innovation Lab was set-up in 2021 in partnership with Co-Creation Hub. Since inception, over 490 participants have benefitted from the several programmes in-person, while over 2,000 have participated in the online programmes.  The innovation lab, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, is managed 100% by Co-Creation Hub, one of the biggest innovation hubs in Africa, and highly-trained facilitators who deliver the wide range of programmes the facility offers.

Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, Co-founder of the innovation lab, noted that the innovation lab was the first of its kind in the Lagos East Senatorial District and encouraged the attendees to “revel in the fact that all of us here are making history together.”

The programmes currently offered include Tech Talent Development Programme; STEM for Senior Secondary School Students;  Lagos East Teachers Fellowship; Start-Up Accelerator; and Community Events and Ecosystem Engagements. In June 2023, the Innovation Lab is starting training in  Data Science for Society. The call for application is already open to interested applicants. 

Speaking on the vision behind the SAIL Innovation Lab and why it needed to be done, Senator Abiru: “Many years ago, it was enough to go to school and train to be a professional in a particular field – law, accounting, broadcasting, engineering, medicine and other disciplines. However, the realities of today have completely changed…the illiterate of today, not the future, would not be those who cannot read and write but those who cannot speak the new language of the world.

“The new language of the world is tech – this is why the setting up of the SAIL Innovation Lab became necessary. It is not a project of the future. It is a project of today; one that needed to be done. Tech is the way and it was important to provide a platform for our ingenious youth in this district.“ Speaking further, he raised that the idea was to “deepen the acceptance of tech innovation in the Lagos East Senatorial District, using a human-centred approach. ”

The siting of the permanent location of the SAIL Innovation Lab was made possible by the support of the members of the Abiru family who agreed to dedicate their family home for this purpose. This is in continuation of the legacy of their late patriarch, Senator (Honourable Justice) Mubasheeru Akanbi Abiru, a distinguished jurist and prominent son of Lagos state. 

The SAIL Innovation Centre will continue to promote support for youths in the Lagos East Senatorial District, making a difference with the power that digital innovations give.

The Independent Campaign Council for Tinubu/Shettima and Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat (ICC) welcomed with enthusiasm the support of Shuwa Arab leaders in Lagos State for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Next President of Nigeria and the re-election bid of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

The Director General of the ICC, Mr Tayo Ayinde thanked the gathering for deeming it fit to visit the campaign office. He affirmed that the ICC has unflinching trust in the commitment of the Shuwa Arab people and that the Shuwa Arab has consistently aligned with the All Progressives Congress.

• ‘We’re complementing party’s efforts, not working at cross purposes’ – Tayo Ayinde

The Independent Campaign Council (ICC) working for election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos State has launched a data driven campaign strategy to ensure the success of the party in the State.

The support group said it would leave no stone unturned in galvanising and mobilising the electorate at the grassroots level in order to deliver five million votes promised the APC candidate in next month’s presidential election.

At its inaugural meeting held in Alausa on Wednesday, the group’s Director General, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, charged members of all directorates to intensify their activities across the local councils, while using the ICC structure to promote the party’s achievements.

The meeting, attended by directors of all the directorates within the group, was chaired by the ICC chairman, Cardinal James Odunmbaku, popularly known as Baba Eto.

Ayinde, who is the Chief of Staff to Governor Sanwo-Olu, said the selection and appointment of the directorates’ leaders was based on the testimony of their loyalty to APC and their capacity to deliver their polling units.

The group’s Director General said the ICC would be adopting a bottom-up approach to garner support for the APC’s candidates, as direct response to the evolving voter demographics and electoral rules.

He reminded the ICC directors that stakes were higher, because of the desperation of the opposition parties to use “cheap blackmail and empty rhetoric” to hoodwink undecided voters.

Ayinde said: “APC has a pedigree of incomparable electoral success in Lagos, which has become the home of progressive politics in the federation. The party’s electoral successes have also been matched with trail-blazing, proactive governance for the common good of the majority of the citizens since 1999. The current responsibility of ICC is to take the messages of ‘Awa lo kan’ and ‘a Greater Lagos Rising’ to every nook and cranny of Lagos, to every stakeholder, to every voting block and every voter.

“Our campaign must be robust, enlightening, issues-based and focussed on competence, pedigree, the need for structural continuity and public trust. Our products are not only good but they are the best. The manifesto and programmes of our candidates are already available to the public as reference and tool for selling them to the electorate. Like every good product, we have a responsibility to soft-sell our candidates to Lagosians by highlighting their competences and promises.

“We are not unmindful of the fact that there is a big gap to fill between our existing electoral results and the current target. There is a big gap between the previous data of registered voters, active voters and the current equivalents. We are determined to run a data-driven campaign towards retaining our core voters, identifying undecided voters and bridging the gap for the success of APC in Lagos. We shall assign, record and review our activities to ensure this objective is realised.”

The ICC Director General, however, hailed APC campaign council for its commitment towards promoting the party’s successes.

Ayinde dismissed the notion that the ICC was initiated to work at cross purposes with the APC campaign council structure in the State, noting that the independent group and the party were not in competition except working in complementary roles to achieve the same objective.

He said many of the ICC directors were party leaders, while the field officers selected to work in the directorates belonged to various grassroots organisations.

The Director General charged them to adopt effective strategies and tactics to reach out to potential voters.

The much anticipated election year, 2023 is upon us.

As it is the custom for Nigerians and the whole world to anticipate a New Year, it is also unarguable to say, 2023 is the most anticipated year in the history of the Nation.

The polity is heated up, Nigerians eagerly anticipate an exchange in baton for another leadership and an improvement from whoever takes over the mantle of leadership.


Rather than the usual smiles, pomp and partying in the new year, Nigerians are focused on the next election coming up in February, 2023. The support for Ahmed Bola Tinubu is growing in leaps and bounds.


His ambition is receiving massive acceptance across sectors in the nation, regardless of the mud-slinging and name calling by oppositions. In fact, the recent announcement that G-5 Governors may endorse Tinubu, though it has been debunked, is a pointer to the acceptability of his candidacy.


Another boost to the former Lagos State Governor’s presidential ambition is the inauguration of the BAT Envoy, by the National Directorate of the APC Youth wing. This envoy, composed of intellectuals, will campaign for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.


Members of the council have been selected in recognition of their devotion to the party, grassroots network, and the essential need to offer them a platform to demonstrate their capacity.


It is noteworthy to also say service on the Envoy is voluntary, and members, comprising party youths and other important youth stakeholders across sectors, will serve wholeheartedly.
The structure, according to the National Youth leader of APC, Dayo Israel, will be under the APC National Youth Wing Campaign Council.


According to him, the structures were approved by the national leadership of the APC and other stakeholders.
He said, “Importantly, it is a fulfilment of my obligation as APC National Youth Leader and the head of its youth wing. Indeed, article 14.22 of the party’s constitution clearly entrusts the mobilisation of the youth for the attainment of party objectives, including electoral victory, to NYL.


Dayo Israel, an ardent BAT supporter, has proven that the mantle of Youth leadership saddled on him is not a mere one. He is executing his role with all sense of responsibility. He appreciates the importance of the obligation at hand and he is fully prepared for it. He has toured some major cities spreading the gospel according to the book of BAT, and this makes it easier for the young ones to accept someone from the seemingly old generation. Dayo Israel has made a case to Nigerians across the country in various elective positions including the presidency with Asiwaju.


The Envoy will serve as the implementation committee of the APC National Youth Wing Masterplan which outlines strategies and tactics developed to give the party a total and youth-driven victory in 2023.


The master plan received the endorsement of our leader and presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, back in August when it was submitted to him by the leadership of the Wing.


According to him, the APC National Youth Wing Campaign Council will collaborate with other relevant campaign structures and organs such as the PCC and the ICC to ensure our party’s poll success.


That notwithstanding, stakeholders and campaign structures interested in engaging the official structure of the party’s youth wing are strongly advised to channel all communications through the office of the National Youth Leader and the Chairperson of the APC Youth Wing.

Ambassadors in BAT’s Envoy will coordinate and manage public relations.


At this juncture it is encouraging to appeal to members of the envoy to serve with diligence and strong commitment, bearing in mind the enormity of the responsibility they have been entrusted with and its special significance to the victory and future of our party and country.

National Youths for Asiwaju paid a courtesy visit to Sen. Kashim Shettima, Seyi Tinubu, Mohammad Ganduje, and Tosin Odufunwa the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the readiness and full support of the group over the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima at the forthcoming election in the year 2023.

NATIONAL YOUTHS FOR ASIWAJU led by Kareem Khadijat Omotayo, AKA Omo Baba is a
nationally spread interest group specifically put in place by a number of different agitative/
activism group to promote the interest of ensuring Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the ICON OF MODERN NIGERIA DEVELOPMENT is widely endorsed especially for the success of his Nigeria’s
presidential ambition.

The group cut across dynamic sensitive youth groups mobilised from established school activists, National Youth Council, Community and social activism environment from the 36 states of the federation and Abuja. The core aim and objective as a non- political youth focus group is to mobilise and influence the apathetic and passive related age grade citizen for vote supports father with the specific objective of mobilising age groups in the country at large for the interest and success the ICON OF MODERN NIGERIA DEVELOPMENT – ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU at the poll comes February 2023.

The Indomitable Tinubu Support Organisation (ITSO), a national political network championing the actualization of the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has felicitated with Senator Kashim Shettima on his 56th birthday.
