Rep. Babajimi Benson, member House of Representatives, Ikorodu Federal Constituency, in partnership with SCI Altar Energy, Lagos State Government and Access Bank empower the first set of youths from Ikorodu. They organized a training program focused on solar and other sustainable cleaner energy for the young people.

He also facilitated the distribution of 1000 reading lamps to students in 20 schools across Ikorodu, which will be distributed on Tuesday.

Toheeb Olayinka, representing Rep. Babajimi Benson, member of the House of Representatives for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, expressed his positive views about the training program on solar energy. He described it as encouraging and one-of-a-kind, emphasizing the importance of such training in the 21st century.

Olayinka highlighted that solar energy, or green energy, aligns with the sustainable development goals and praised the partnership between SCI Altar Energy and the office of Rep. Babajimi Benson. The first session of the program took place in Magodo, with a moderate turnout. However, Olayinka mentioned that another session will be held on Tuesday at the Ikodu town hall to accommodate more participants, as there has been significant interest in attending.

With the world moving towards renewable energy and considering its significance as one of the sustainable development goals, Olayinka encouraged the continuation of such training programs. He expressed hope for a more elaborate and participatory session in Ikorodu on Tuesday, as more people are expected to be interested in learning about green energy.

The enthusiasm and interest shown by participants and the increasing calls and messages for attendance further demonstrate the importance and relevance of renewable energy training in Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

Engr. Shola Shasore, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in the Lagos State Government, expressed the importance of the training program which focused on clean and sustainable energy in Lagos. She highlighted the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to the well-being of the citizens and his vision for a greener Lagos.

Engr. Shola Shasore emphasized the significance of citizen participation in the energy sector and how it aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s inclusive approach. The Governor is known for his dedication to involving citizens in various programs and developments throughout the state. This training program, which aims to teach citizens how to create solar solutions for local use and contribute to national development, is in line with his vision.

In her speech, Adedoyin Adele Fadipe, CEO of SCI Altar Energy, expressed her gratitude for the successful partnership with Rep. Babajimi Benson, a member of the House of Representatives from IKorodu Federal constituency. Fadipe highlighted their long-standing connection in the private sector, which led to their collaboration in finding clean and sustainable electricity solutions.

The partnership between SCI Altar Energy and Rep. Babajimi Benson has proven to be fruitful, with a focus on achieving quick and successive results. Fadipe emphasized the importance of working with an efficient and proactive structure like iCare Foundation under the leadership of Rep. Babajimi Benson that understands the nuances of their goals. Himself and his team demonstrated their commitment by swiftly embracing the opportunity.

The impact of their collaboration extends beyond the business realm. Rep. Babajimi Benson’s office arranged transportation for 150 individuals from Ikorodu to attend the event, free of charge. Additionally, 150 more individuals will receive training on Tuesday. In a further display of community support, 1000 lamps will be distributed to children in 20 schools across the Ikorodu Federal constituency.

In his remarks, Uduka Unaduzie, the branch manager of Access Bank Plc, Ketu branch, highlighted the need to move beyond complaining about the power energy situation in the country and instead focus on providing solutions. The training program aims to reach out to individuals and SMEs, empowering them to manufacture solar-powered equipment and everyday-use items.

The intention behind this training is to enable participants to produce solutions that address the current needs of society. By the end of the training, attendees will be equipped to create solar-powered lamps and other equipment, which can be utilized in their respective locations to meet the needs of people in the society.

The impressive turnout reflects the enthusiasm and interest in learning how to contribute to solving the energy challenges in the country.
