
In an effort to reconnect with the community and provide opportunities for the Youths, the Chairman Cup is making a comeback in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA.
Mr. Abayomi Adeoye, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the Igbogbo Baiyeku Chairman Cup 2024, expressed his enthusiasm for the the Chairman’s Cup, which is in its third edition, aims to bring together teams from the community and provide a platform for young football talents to showcase their skills.
He said the focus was on revealing the participating teams and their respective coaches. This information is crucial for the players and spectators to familiarize themselves with the competition.
Additionally, the rules of the game have been modified annually, which may pose a challenge for some players. Adeoye emphasized the importance of educating the players on the new rules and regulations to ensure fair play and prevent any disputes with the referees.
Adeoye conveyed a heartfelt message to the players and spectators, urging them to support the event and the efforts of the chairman. He highlighted the positive impact that the Chairman Cup has had on the community, fostering unity and providing opportunities for the youth.
Comrade Abdullateef Odusanya, representing the Chairman, said the return of the annual football tournament during the chairman cups draws, which have already commenced.
The decision to bring back the Chairman Cup was inspired by concerns about the whereabouts and activities of some of the youth. Comrade Abdullateef Odusanya expressed the need to engage them and understand their aspirations. The chairman believes that by rejuvenating the youths through this event, they can be guided towards a positive path.
The response from the community has been overwhelming, with many youths eagerly signing up for the tournament. Despite the short notice, they showed great enthusiasm in obtaining the registration forms. Comrade Abdullateef Odusanya advised the participants to seize this opportunity, as the Chairman has secured the involvement of corporate organizations such as the football company and bet Naija company.
In a bid to ensure fair play and maintain the integrity of the game, the FIFA Badge Referee Jelili Ogunmuyiwa advised the players and officials to strictly follow the rules of football. While acknowledging that they are already familiar with the rules, Ogunmuyiwa emphasized the importance of consistent reminders to uphold the spirit of the sport.
