
In a bid to address the pressing issue of fish scarcity and poverty plaguing riverine communities in Lagos State, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Chairman of the House Committee on Public-Private Partnership, spearheaded the inauguration of the Smile Cooperative Agricultural Multipurpose Society Ltd. The event took place today at the esteemed palace of the Oba of Egbin kingdom on Saturday, 9th of March.
Named the *Smile Cooperative Agricultural Multipurpose Society Ltd.,* the initiative aims to combat the prevalent challenges faced by riverine communities in accessing adequate fish supply. As the President of the cooperative society, Hon. AMA is determined to contribute to Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu’s efforts alongside the Ministry of Agriculture to mitigate fish scarcity in Lagos State.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of key stakeholders, including the revered King of Egbin kingdom, Oba Adeoriyomi Oluwasesan Abdul-Akeem Oyebo, alongside other community leaders, investors both within and outside Nigeria, and members of the Smile Team Foundation.
Hon. AMA emphasized the importance of collaboration and community engagement in tackling such critical issues, highlighting the significance of inclusivity and partnership in driving sustainable change. The project, which is set to kickstart from the Egbin kingdom, will gradually extend its reach to various riverine communities within Ikorodu Constituency II.
With a focus on holistic development and socio-economic empowerment, the Smile Cooperative Agricultural Multipurpose Society Ltd. endeavors to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by fish scarcity and poverty across Lagos State’s riverine communities.
