The Isiu Eweye Development Association (ISEDASS) held a press conference and unveiled Ankara for the Isiu Eweye Day earlier today Friday, November 3rd, and announce the plans for Eweye Day 2023.

HRM. Oba Olukayode David Raji, Eweye of Isiu Kingdom, Kabiyesi officially declared the Isiwu Eweye Day open.

Otunba Afolagbade Musa Banwo, Chairman of ISEDASS, who was represented by Dr. Haruna Ishola Balogun, the Coordinating Vice Chairman of the committee.

In his keynote address, Dr. Balogun expressed his delight in welcoming everyone to this year’s edition of Eweye Day. He emphasized that the events planned for this year will be truly remarkable, outstanding, and phenomenal as the community comes together to celebrate their togetherness.

Dr. Balogun also acknowledged the efforts of HRM Oba Olukayode David Raji, the traditional head of Isiu, for his meticulous appointment of leaders who will guide the community towards growth and development. The founding fathers of Isiu Eweye Day were also recognized for organizing the pioneering edition of this event, setting an example for other communities in the Ikorodu Division.

Special recognition was given to the late Mr. Ranti Oludehinde, fondly known as Oriwu, who served as the first Chairman of the Isiu Youth Development Movement. His visionary leadership in resolving communal crises and unifying the youth for the safety of all residents was highly commended. Hon. Kunle Ogunbela, Alhaji Musa Sulaimon, Prince Tunde Awolesi and other distinguished leaders were also acknowledged for their meritorious contributions.

Dr. Haruna Ishola Balogun, expressed his admiration and joy for the ongoing progress during the celebration. “We applaud you all. We rejoice with you that the journey you embarked on close to four decades ago is still progressive despite all odds and encumbrances,” he stated.

The Isiu Youth Development Movement (IYDM) also played a significant role in the success of Eweye Day, with Comrade Amos Oladunni and later Comrade Wasiu Raji leading the movement’s contributions towards the sustainability of the event.

Adding to the grandeur of the celebration, His Royal Majesty, the Eweye of Isiu, nominated and inaugurated a distinguished group of individuals for Eweye Day 2023. Otunba Banwo Afolagbade Musa was appointed as the Chairman of the newly formed Isiu Eweye Development Association (ISEDASS).

“We accepted this offer even though we had a delay in taking off. We thank God because the bull has been taken by the horn, and we are going miles,” Dr. Balogun expressed.

The theme for this year’s Eweye Day celebration, “Power of Togetherness and Love; A Better Way to Meaningful Growth and Development,” resonated deeply with the community.

Dr. Haruna Ishola Balogun delivered a powerful message about the importance of togetherness and love. He emphasized that this day is truly historic as it combines the Eweye day celebration with a fundraising effort of 500 MILLION for an ultra-modern palace.

Dr. Balogun emphasized that no amount of money will be undervalued for the execution of this project, showcasing the determination and dedication of the community.

Dr. Balogun also took the opportunity to recognize and appreciate the presence of various clubs, associations, CDAs, Chiefs, Baales, and eminent personalities who graced the occasion.

In conclusion he said “Kabiyesi, you are truly a blessing to Isiu and all the towns and villages in Ikorodu North LCDA. May your reign be filled with prosperity and blessings for a hundred years to come”.

Kabiyesi emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Isiwu, stating that when we stand together, there is love and a clear path to progress.

During his speech, Kabiyesi highlighted the remarkable achievements of the past, such as the successful completion of the town hall and primary health center through a similar fund raising, for this year they are projecting 500 million project for the palace. This serves as a shining example of what can be accomplished when we work together.

He concluded by saying “Let’s take a moment to appreciate Senator Abiru for his contributions towards the transformer and health center, as well as Rep. Babajimi Benson for his efforts in bringing a market to Isiwu. It’s possible that the market will be commissioned during the grand finale of Isiwu Eweye Day. Kabiyesi also mentioned the upcoming commissioning of a police station in Aleke and applauded the individual responsible for its construction.

Taiwo Odumbo, the PRO of the Eweye Isiu Development Association and Chairman of the Education Committee, announced the dates for two important events. The Education Committee will be hosting a series of activities on the 22nd and 23rd of November, aimed at promoting educational development in Isiwu.

Additionally, there will be a Youth Summit taking place on the 13th of December. This summit will provide a platform for the youth of Isiwu to come together, share ideas, and discuss important issues affecting their community.

Mr. Segun Alimi, the Secretary of Isiu Eweye Development Association, shared the exciting lineup of events:

– On November 4th, Sports action as the Isiu Eweye Day kicks off with thrilling games and competitions.
– November 22nd, when the focus will shift to education, with activities planned for both primary and secondary school students.
– December 5th is all about environmental sanitation, as the community comes together to clean and beautify the surroundings.
– On December 7th, there will be free healthcare services provided to the residents, ensuring everyone has access to essential medical care.
– December 12th is dedicated for Woro, Artisan, and market men and women who contribute to the local economy.
– The following day, December 13th, will see a youth summit, providing a platform for young people to discuss important issues and share their perspectives.
– December 14th will be a day filled with palace activities, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Isiu.
– Finally, on December 16th, the grand finale day will bring the Isiu Eweye Day celebrations to a close.
