
National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ijede branch celebrates her National youth day in a grand style as they commemorate the 2023 National Youth Day themed, Green Skills for Youth: towards a Sustainable World which took place yesterday November 1st, at the Ijede LCDA council secretariat.
As part of the National Youth Day celebration earlier in the day they carried out free health care test, likewise earlier in the week they played football competition, and walk for fitness.
Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, the Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA, in her remarks She emphasized the importance of education, stating that it is one of the strongest pillars in one’s life. Gbadebo-Alogba advised the youth to prioritize their education and strive for excellence. She also encouraged them to be good ambassadors of Ijede LCDA.

The Vice Chairman Ijede LCDA, Hon Abdul Kareem Femi, encourages the youths to look inward on ways they can assist themselves, and while assisting themselves they should also assist the economy at large and that green skills can be used to empower ourselves to improve our economic life, as we are improving our economic life we should not be endangering the society, so automatically the climatic condition of every nation, every society is Germain and should be key at heart our discussion and the way we finding our means of living
“The youthful age is the time to identify yourself and plan for your future” said the guest speaker Mr Basir Saminu, when he was delivering his lecture on green skills, he highlighted the vast advantages that the youth can tap into when they engage in green skills, which are renewable energy, waste management, sustainable agriculture and green technology, this will enable the youth to advance their innovative and problem solving skills.

He also established that green skills encourage a construction pattern that reduces waste and promotes the efficient use of resources by adopting circular economic principle and recycling, that is the waste from our various homes can still be recycled by the company and can be reused, thus, picking of this item which is toxic then it is environmentally friendly.
Mr Adebayo Adekoya the HOD for agriculture ijede LCDA streamlined different ways to protect our environment, which are the 3R, reduce, reuse and recycle, looking for ways to reduce items that may cause toxic in our environment, we should look for a ways to conserve our water,and the most important thing we can do to conserve our environment is to plant a tree.

Comr. Bello Idris, Coordinator NYCN Ijede LCDA, in his speech he said “Green skills is not limited to agric alone and that anything green is something that is profitable and more beneficial, last two months we had a partnership with Action AID to train about 35 youths in IJEDE LCDA on farming.”
He also extended his gratitude to the Hon Chairman of ijede LCDA for being a lover of the youths and always listening to their plea, she runs an all-inclusive Government in which she carries the youths along in terms of empowerment and every other area that requires her intervention.
Dignitaries in attendance are; Supervisor for education Hon Hamzat Adijat, Supervisor for youth and sport Hon Adenuga, Comrade Moshood Anifowose Nycn ex coordinator.
