… Flags off HPV Vaccination in Ijede LCDA

Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba the Executive Chairman Ijede LCDA, Commissioned the newly rehabilitated Oke Eletu Primary Health Care Center and hand over the newly procured ambulance for use in the health center.
Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba emphasized the importance of strengthening Primary Health Care Services, recognizing the benefits of a healthy populace.
During the ceremony, the newly rehabilitated Primary Health Care Center and the newly procured ambulance were handed over to the management and staffs of Oke Eletu health care center. These facilities will play a crucial role in responding to emergencies and ensuring that the community has easier access to healthcare services.
Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba expressed her plan to equip the health centers to handle a vast majority of cases, with only the most serious ones being referred to the General Hospital at Ijede. The aim is to provide healthcare workers with the necessary facilities and a conducive working environment, enabling them to respond effectively to the needs of the community.
The dedication of the rehabilitated Oke Eletu Primary Health Care Center and the handing over of the new ambulance mark significant milestones in improving healthcare accessibility and emergency response in the area. The achievements would not have been possible without the dedication of healthcare professionals and the support of the community.
Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba extended her heartfelt gratitude to everyone present for their support on this momentous occasion. She emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to prioritize the well-being of the people and the ongoing development of the healthcare system.
She also mentioned that the Lagos State Health Scheme – Ilera Eko has adopted the Oke Eletu Primary Health Care Center as one of the health facilities for civil servants’ healthcare service delivery.
Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba encouraged all members of staff to take advantage of this opportunity by utilizing the Health Center. The facility is open for immunizations to protect children from preventable diseases.
She also emphasized the importance of the ongoing HPV vaccination to safeguard daughters from cervical cancer, urging parents to ensure that all daughters between the ages of 9-14 receive the vaccine.
Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba expressed her gratitude to everyone for attending the event and concluded by sending blessings to all.
Mrs. Ibidunni Oludayo Lajide, the Permanent Secretary of Health District II, expressed her appreciation to the Chairman’s commendable efforts in renovating the Primary Health Center (PHC) and providing an ambulance. Lajide emphasized the importance of utilizing these facilities and providing feedback to drive continuous improvement and enhance health indices.
Lajide also addressed rumors surrounding the HPV vaccination, highlighting that the vaccine has been available for over 10 years. She urged parents to take advantage of the government’s initiative, which offers the vaccine free of charge to children aged 9-14.
Mrs Olamilokun, the Apex nurse of Ijede PHC, asserted that there have been a lot of improvements in the Ijede LCDA Health care services, she said “we operate on a 24-hour service, in which patients are attended to both day and night, and for those who complain of one thing or the other, we have doctors on ground to attend to them at every point in time. We also make use of the ambulances when it need arises.”
She also reacted to the ongoing (HPV) Human Papillomavirus vaccine that is rolled out by Lagos State government, which is to be given to the girl child from age 9-to 14 to prevent them from contacting cervical cancer and she encouraged parents to make sure their children get vaccinated in other to eradicate this virus from our society.
