Ijede Local Council Development Area has passed a bill that establishes a Joint Task Force on security. The bill is aimed at putting structures in place to ensure that everyone can go about their legitimate business peacefully and sleep with their two eyes closed. Ijede LCDA believes that a collective effort is necessary to address insecurity issues, and that the establishment of the joint task force will bring all communities in Ikorodu division together.

Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area, in her speech she emphasized the importance of a peaceful society and the role of every responsible government to ensure such an environment.

she also stated that while it is important to put laws and structures in place to ensure that there is no room for anyone or group to derail the peace, she welcomes everyone to the ceremony of the official passing into law the bill establishing a Joint Task Force on security in the council area. The Executive Chairman believes that the new structure will allow everyone to go about their legitimate business peacefully.

Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba also reiterated her resolve to ensure that the youths in the council area are law-abiding citizens. She promised to keep the vocational center alive and functioning to ensure the youths are gainfully engaged. In conclusion, she called for the support of every citizen and resident of the council area to ensure the success of the Joint Task Force on security.

Hon. Fadeyi Kehinde Abiodun, the leader of the house, encouraged stakeholders to freely express their views and give suggestions, and assured them that their submissions would be well attended to.

The bill has been enacted into law and it is expected to improve the security situation in Ijede LCDA. The administration’s resolve to ensure that youths are law-abiding citizens by keeping the vocational center alive and functioning to ensure they are gainfully engaged is also commendable. Finally, it is important for every citizen and resident of the Council Area to support the Joint Task Force on security so that we can all enjoy peace and security in the area.

The interactive session was aimed at strengthening the fundamental legislation on security matters with the view of improving qualitative living with less or no threat to lives and properties. Specifically, the title of the said bill remains Ikorodu Joint Security Task Force, with the purpose of having an established local security structure in the local Council Development Area that will align and assist the Nigeria Police Force and other Security Agencies in the maintenance of peace and order.
