The Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, has reaffirmed the importance of preserving traditional institutions as she officially performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new Onikosi Palace.

Speaking at the historic event held in Ikosi, the council boss described the community as an ancient town rich in history, identity, and culture, noting that the new palace would serve as a befitting symbol of its heritage and status within Kosofe.

According to her, the project goes beyond physical development, representing a strong commitment to cultural continuity and the preservation of traditional values for future generations.

She stressed that traditional institutions remain vital as custodians of unity and identity, adding that the palace project is essential to strengthening these roles.

“This groundbreaking is more than construction; it is a renewed commitment to heritage, respect, and continuity for the people of Ikosi and Ikosi-Isheri at large,” she said.

The Mayoress also used the occasion to acknowledge the support of the Lagos State Government under Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, commending his leadership and commitment to grassroots development and local government autonomy.

She further praised Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as the driving force behind the Renewed Hope Agenda. She noted that projects such as the palace construction reflect the practical impact of the administration’s policies at the grassroots level.

Reiterating her administration’s support for continuity and progressive governance, the Mayoress assured that the people of Ikosi-Isheri remain committed to sustaining development efforts and backing the Renewed Hope Agenda beyond 2027.

The ceremony was attended by community leaders, traditional rulers, and residents, marking a significant step toward strengthening cultural heritage and infrastructure in the area.
