The lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Femi Saheed, has formally declared his intention to seek a second term in office, calling for a transparent and competitive electoral process within the constituency.

Hon. Saheed made the declaration while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of his official announcement held at his residence in the Agiliti area of Kosofe.

He emphasized the importance of healthy competition among aspirants, warning against the imposition of candidates.
“We are ready for a fair primary election. Gone are the days when candidates would be imposed on the people. We are not afraid of competition, but it must be based on credibility, character, and track record,” he said.

The lawmaker also urged political stakeholders not to invoke the name of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to justify candidate imposition, describing the president as a leader who stands for fairness and inclusiveness.

“Our leader remains a father to all, and his name should not be used to impose candidates. Let there be fairness and transparency,” he added.

Reflecting on his time in office, Saheed described legislative service as a call to serve humanity, noting that his experience has deepened his commitment to selfless service.
“When I came into office, I realised that lawmaking is a call from God. It is about serving the people selflessly, often at the expense of personal comfort. But when you give your best and the people appreciate your efforts, that alone is fulfilling,” he said.

He highlighted his contributions to lawmaking, including involvement in key legislations such as the Anti-Grazing Law and the establishment of the Lagos State University of Medicine and Technology.

On constituency development, Saheed outlined several projects and initiatives facilitated during his first term. These include the construction of 12 roads, attraction of a 1,200-capacity FIFA-standard stadium, and the rehabilitation of schools, including one in Odo Ogun now regarded as among the best in the state.

He also noted the introduction of student shuttle buses serving over 650,000 students daily, as well as water projects in communities such as OPIC Isheri Estate.

In the area of education and social welfare, the lawmaker said he distributed over 1,000 JAMB forms, supported scholarships and bursaries, and provided school furniture.

He added that initiatives such as the Hon. Femi Saheed Medical Programme and Food Palliative Scheme have supported vulnerable residents, while several graduates have secured employment through his intervention.

Saheed further disclosed that abandoned infrastructure projects, including the Ketu-Alapere-Demurin Road, were completed through his efforts, leveraging his role in the Assembly’s Finance Committee to ensure proper budgetary allocation and execution.

Expressing confidence in his re-election bid, Saheed said his performance and experience as a ranking member would enable him to deliver even greater results if given another term.
“If given another four years, I will achieve even more for my people. Experience matters in governance,” he said.

At the national level, he commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing bold economic reforms, acknowledging that such policies often come with initial challenges.

“There is no gain without pain. Economic reforms such as subsidy removal and currency adjustments are difficult but necessary steps toward long-term stability. Today, we are seeing progress in local refining, infrastructure, and economic diversification,” he said.

He also pointed to gradual improvements in sectors such as education, aviation, and banking, while noting that efforts to tackle insecurity are ongoing.
Some constituents who spoke in support of the lawmaker commended his performance and called for his re-election.

Mrs. Abosede Ajagbe praised Saheed’s contributions to infrastructure and education, while Mr. Ajiroba Idris Ogunnaike described him as a focused and result-driven leader, expressing confidence in his ability to sustain development in the constituency.
