… Mayoress Announces Plan to introduce “Keke Mayoress”

Princess Samiat Bada, Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA on Tuesday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new fire station aimed at strengthening emergency response and safeguarding lives and property within the council area.

Speaking during the ceremony held at the council secretariat, she described the project as a major milestone in the administration’s commitment to public safety and grassroots development.

According to her, the community had operated for years without a functional fire station, a gap the current leadership is determined to address.
“Today is a very special day for our community. We are performing the groundbreaking ceremony for a fire station that will protect lives and property and make our environment safer for everyone. We saw the need, we acted, and today we are making it happen,” she said.

Princess Bada also expressed appreciation to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his continued support for grassroots development and for empowering local administrations to execute impactful projects.

She further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the initiative continues to drive visible development at the community level.

Describing the fire station as more than just a physical structure, she said it represents hope, progress, and responsible leadership.

“This project shows that when we work together, we can make life better for our people. We are committed to building a safer and stronger community for all,” she added.

The event was attended by top council officials, including the Vice Chairman, Council Manager, Councilors, staff, and other community stakeholders.

Following the ceremony, Mayoress inspected the ongoing Refuge Base project as part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation and waste management.

During the visit, she announced plans to introduce a dedicated tricycle initiative, “Keke Mayoress,” to enhance refuse collection across the community and promote a cleaner environment.

She also disclosed that modern public toilet facilities for both male and female users are being constructed at the site to improve sanitation and convenience for residents and visitors.

The initiatives, she noted, are part of broader efforts to enhance public safety, sanitation, and overall quality of life within the community.
