Residents of Ikorodu in Lagos State benefitted from a large-scale free medical outreach organized by the APC Amazons under the Renewed Hope initiative in celebration of the 54th birthday of the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson.

The outreach, held at Galilee Ground, Ferry Terminal, Ebute Ipakodo, offered a wide range of free healthcare services including general medical checkups, eye tests, prescription glasses, medications, health talks and professional consultations.

Speaking at the event, the APC Amazons Chairperson, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba described the outreach as a demonstration of love, service and community support inspired by the lawmaker’s legacy of humanitarian service.

According to her, the group — made up of politically inclined female elected officials and public servants — chose to celebrate the federal lawmaker by extending care to residents of Ikorodu.

She noted that the initiative reflects the group’s commitment to nation-building and the role of women in strengthening communities and governance.

Princess Folashade added that Ikorodu Division boasts one of the highest numbers of female political officials in Lagos State and expressed optimism that the contribution of women in leadership will continue to grow nationally.

As part of the outreach, residents received extensive health education with strong emphasis on preventive healthcare and early detection of illnesses.

Dr. Ololade Fadipe, who was part of the medical team at the outreach, appreciated Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba for the opportunity to serve the community, noting that the outreach was organized in honour of Hon. Babajimi Benson and in support of his people-centered leadership.

Dr. Fadipe raised concern about the growing cases of high blood pressure, warning that anyone with a blood pressure reading above 135/80 requires proper medical attention and monitoring.

She encouraged residents to take advantage of the Lagos State ILERA EKO Health Insurance Scheme, explaining that the government has made healthcare more accessible and affordable for citizens.

She emphasized that medical checkups should be regular and continuous, not a one-time visit, advising that individuals aged 40 and above should undergo a full body checkup every year.

According to her, early detection leads to early treatment and better health outcomes, urging residents to prioritize preventive healthcare and healthier lifestyles.

Residents of different age groups turned out in large numbers to benefit from the initiative, which combined celebration with community service.

The APC Amazons expressed gratitude for the opportunity to give back to the community and prayed for more years of impactful service for Hon. Babajimi Benson.
