Eid Hangout Draws Massive Turnout in Ikorodu, Promotes Faith-Based Recreation
Hundreds of families gathered in Ikorodu on March 20, 2026, the second day of Eid-el-Fitr, for the Eid Hangout – Ikorodu Experience, a vibrant outdoor event designed to combine fun with faith.
Driven by the theme “Vibing Without Sins,” the initiative provided a refreshing alternative for celebration, offering a space where enjoyment aligns with Islamic values. The event attracted a large turnout, with smiles and excitement evident as participants engaged in various activities.
Attendees were treated to a wide range of games and entertainment, including snooker, table tennis, video games, and other engaging activities that created a lively and memorable atmosphere. Quranic quiz sessions were also held, adding a spiritual and educational dimension to the event.
The founder of the Eid Hangout – Ikorodu Experience, Waliu Adeyeri, said the initiative was conceived to provide structured and value-driven entertainment for Muslim youths, particularly during festive periods.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the programme, Adeyeri explained that celebrations such as Eid often expose young people to activities that may contradict their religious beliefs, prompting the need for a more conscious alternative.
According to him, “People get involved in acts that are forbidden by Allah in the name of trying to entertain themselves. To avoid that, we came up with this event.”
He noted that the hangout is designed to promote a new culture of celebration where fun and moral values coexist, encouraging youths to enjoy themselves without compromising their faith.
“Vibing without sin is the new way to go,” he stated.
Beyond entertainment, Adeyeri highlighted the economic impact of the initiative, particularly on small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) within Ikorodu. He said vendors and business owners consistently record increased patronage during the event.
“This event has been helping SMEs. Anytime we organise it, their sales increase,” he added, noting that the 2026 edition marks the third instalment of the programme.
Adeyeri also expressed appreciation to key partners and supporters who contributed to the success of the event, including Headway Events, Hygeia HMO, Sangloos Media, Dbard Event Visuals, and Oki’s Gaming Lounge.
Participants commended the initiative, describing it as both impactful and enjoyable.
A participant, Aisha Bello, said the event offered a safe and inclusive environment for families.
“It’s a beautiful concept. You can have fun without compromising your faith. I came with my family, and we all had a wonderful time,” she said.
Another attendee, Ibrahim Sadiq, praised the organisers for creating a meaningful experience.
“It’s more than just entertainment. The games, the Quranic quiz, and the atmosphere make it unique. I look forward to attending again,” he added.
The Eid Hangout continues to stand out as a model for faith-conscious recreation, fostering unity, strengthening community bonds, and redefining how celebrations are experienced within the Muslim community.
