The Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali, on Monday received players and officials of Dr Kasali FC following their triumph at the 7th edition of the Onilekki Annual Ramadan Cup.

The grassroots football team, widely regarded as one of the finest in the council area, visited the chairman’s office to present their trophy after reclaiming the title in the 2026 edition of the competition. Their victory marks a remarkable journey of resilience, having finished as runners-up in 2025 and champions in a previous edition.

Speaking during the reception, Emgr. Kasali commended the team for their discipline, consistency, and commitment to excellence. He urged the players to sustain their winning momentum and continue to serve as role models for young talents in the community.

The chairman also disclosed plans by his administration to introduce structured talent hunt and scouting initiatives aimed at providing greater exposure for aspiring footballers within the council area.

In recognition of their achievement, the team was presented with a cash reward, further underscoring the council’s commitment to youth development through sports.
Dr Kasali FC, sponsored by Prince Bayo Ogidan, was led by team captain Ogunbekun Oyinkansola, alongside Head Coach Ogunbekun Tanwa and Team Manager Ogunbekun Sharafa, a former Sports Director of Lekki LCDA.

The delegation was accompanied by the Supervisor for Sports, Hon. Shonaike Olatokunbo, and the Supervisor for Youth Empowerment, Hon. Balogun Isiaka.

Speaking on behalf of the team, the manager expressed gratitude to the chairman for his continued support, noting that such encouragement remains a driving force behind their success.

The visit highlights the growing emphasis on grassroots sports development in Lekki LCDA, where local talents are being nurtured for greater impact on bigger stages.
