
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated the importance of strengthening foundational learning for pupils across the state.
The governor was represented by Permanent Board Members of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) Hon. Owolabi Jamiu Falana and Hon. Sijuade Idowu-Tiamiyu at the closing ceremony of the Africa Missions Global Foundational Learning Intervention Pilot Phase held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Ifako Nursery and Primary School.
According to the governor’s representative, the initiative reflects the state government’s continued commitment to improving foundational literacy and numeracy among primary school pupils, noting that strengthening early learning remains a critical step toward building a stronger education system.
The ceremony featured several activities designed to showcase the impact of the programme, including a Spelling Bee competition, teachers’ contests, and vibrant cultural presentations by the pupils.
The event concluded with the presentation of prizes to winners of the various competitions and a group photograph session involving organizers, teachers, pupils, and invited guests.
