… As Ayodele Hamid Alawaye is Sworn in as Secretary to the Local Government (SLG)

The Executive Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, has called for unity, love, and peaceful coexistence among residents as Muslims and Christians observe the Ramadan and Lenten seasons.
The Chairman made the call during a Ramadan lecture and welfare programme organized by the council, where Islamic and Christian scholars spoke on the theme “Unity and Love.” The event also featured the distribution of food packages to residents as part of efforts to support families during the fasting period.
In her address, Hon. Opeyemi noted that the coincidence of the Ramadan and Lenten seasons provides a unique opportunity for people of different faiths to strengthen unity and promote mutual understanding.
She explained that the theme of the programme was deliberately chosen to reflect the spirit of the season, emphasizing that both Islam and Christianity encourage love, compassion, and support for one another.
According to her, Ramadan represents a period of sharing, charity, and kindness, which informed the council’s decision to distribute food items that could assist beneficiaries during the fasting period.
The Chairman also used the occasion to introduce the newly sworn-in Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Ayodele Hamid, describing him as a loyal party member with a deep understanding of grassroots politics and governance.
She expressed confidence in his ability to perform effectively in the role and urged career officers within the council to cooperate with him in the discharge of his responsibilities.
Speaking on the theme, Imam Shuaib Aminullahi emphasized that unity is the foundation of love, stressing that without love, the world would not have survived.
He referenced the teachings of Prophet Muhammad on generosity and giving, noting that the distribution of relief packages during the programme reflects those teachings. He also encouraged residents to love one another for the sake of God and to see their neighbours as family members.
Also speaking, Pastor Duro Olaniyan stated that God created all human beings and loves everyone unconditionally. He urged the Chairman, Vice Chairman, council staff, and residents to embrace unity and mutual respect.
According to him, although people may not be equal in status, unity and cooperation are necessary to achieve a common purpose and ensure the development of Mosan-Okunola LCDA, Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole.
The newly sworn-in SLG, Ayodele Hamid Alawaye, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, describing his appointment as a pleasant surprise.
He pledged to support the Chairman’s administration by promoting good governance and effective service delivery while also calling on residents and council staff to continue embracing peace and love regardless of religious differences.
Also speaking at the event, the Head of Department (HOD) of Agriculture, Dada Elizabeth, said the programme reflects the Chairman’s commitment to fostering unity during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons, when Muslims and Christians are observing periods of fasting and spiritual reflection.
She noted that the distribution of food items was aimed at supporting residents who may be facing economic hardship and easing the burden of hunger within the community.
The programme highlighted the importance of religious harmony, compassion, and community support during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons, reinforcing the council’s commitment to unity and peaceful coexistence among residents.
