The Executive Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to education with the distribution of free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to over hundreds of indigent students across the council area.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairman at the presentation ceremony, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Akintola Falade, described the initiative as another milestone in the council’s efforts to expand educational opportunities for young people.
According to him, the programme reflects the chairman’s strong passion for education, noting that as an educationist and a mother, Hon. Akindele is deeply invested in the academic success and future of students in the community.
“Today marks another milestone for this local government as we distribute free JAMB forms to over a hundred indigent students. We appeal to the beneficiaries to make good use of this opportunity. The chairman is an educationist and all she wants is for the students to make her and the local government proud through dedication to their studies,” Falade said.
He further explained that the council’s Education Unit has put several support structures in place to ensure the beneficiaries perform well in the examination. These include tutorial classes and training sessions designed to expose students to past examination questions and prepare them adequately.
“The Education Unit is putting everything in place to ensure that the students come out in flying colours. The tutorial sessions they will undergo will enable them to familiarise themselves with past questions so that the examination environment will not be strange to them,” he added.
Also speaking, the Head of Education and Library Services, Mrs. Ajileye Mojisola, explained that the beneficiaries were selected based on specific academic criteria.
She stated that applicants were required to present their WAEC results with at least five or six credits before being considered for the programme.
“I charge the students to remain focused and read hard so they can come out with flying colours in the examination,” she said.
One of the beneficiaries, Idowu Moyosore, expressed appreciation to the council for the support, describing the gesture as a major relief for many families.
“I am very happy for what they’ve done for us, the youth who need help. This is actually my second time collecting the form. The first time I applied, I had an awaiting result and it affected my admission, but now I’m grateful to have another opportunity. The cost of JAMB is high and many parents cannot afford it, so this help means a lot,” he said.
Another beneficiary, Okonkwo Ukuanna, also commended the council chairman for creating the opportunity for students who might otherwise struggle to afford the examination form.
“I feel very happy because I didn’t use my money to get the form. I want to thank the executive chairman for this great opportunity. My advice to my colleagues is to study hard, pray, and not be afraid because JAMB is a simple exam if you prepare well,” she said.
