
The Central Planning Committee of Eko Youth Tourism Club and Lagos Students Tourism Initiative paid a courtesy visit to Mr Bajulaiye Olanrewaju Adetokunbo, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, as part of preparations for the forthcoming Students Tourism Retreat.
The visit was centered on the club’s planned three-day residential retreat, designed to promote tourism awareness and deepen appreciation of Lagos State’s rich cultural heritage among students and young people.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Bajulaiye commended the club for its laudable objective of promoting Lagos cultural heritage among students and youths across the state.
He described the initiative as timely and in line with the THEMES+ Agenda of the Lagos State Governor.
The Permanent Secretary further pledged the Ministry’s continuous support for initiatives that align with the state’s vision, particularly programs that empower and positively engage young people.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting youth-focused activities that contribute to cultural preservation and tourism development.
In his remarks, the Convener, Comrade Ogunye Oluwaseun Adeyinka, expressed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for his warm reception and fatherly guidance.
He noted that the Students Tourism Retreat is aimed at equipping students with deeper knowledge of Lagos’ historical landmarks, tourism potential, cultural values, and economic opportunities within the tourism sector.
He added that the retreat will provide participants with interactive sessions, educational tours, and capacity-building activities designed to nurture future ambassadors of Lagos tourism.
The courtesy visit marked a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between the Eko Youth Tourism Club and the Lagos State Government in advancing youth-driven tourism initiatives.
