… Reaffirms Infrastructure Drive Across Ikosi-Isheri LCDA

The Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, officially flagged off the rehabilitation of Yomi Kuye Street in Shangisha and Remi Shofoluwe Street in Magodo, both located in Ward B of the council area, reaffirming her administration’s commitment to grassroots development.

Addressing residents, community leaders and stakeholders at the ceremony themed “Transforming Roads, Connecting Communities,” the Mayoress said the projects represent another clear step toward improving the quality of life for the people of Shangisha and Magodo.

She noted that Yomi Kuye Street and Remi Shofoluwe Street had been in deplorable condition for a long time, with potholes, stagnant water, dust and broken surfaces making movement difficult and unsafe for residents.

“These are roads you use every day to go to work, take your children to school, visit neighbours and move around your community. This intervention is meant to bring lasting relief, improve safety and restore comfort to daily movement in this area,” she said.

Princess Bada explained that her administration remains focused on fixing issues that directly affect residents’ daily lives, stressing that good roads reduce stress, improve safety, cut travel time and promote a cleaner, more orderly environment.

She acknowledged that there might be temporary inconveniences as construction begins and appealed for understanding, patience and cooperation from residents to ensure the projects are delivered on schedule.

The projects, which will be handled by Ojonla Construction Ltd, are expected to be completed within four weeks.

Speaking specifically at the flag-off of Remi Shofoluwe Street in Magodo, the Mayoress described the rehabilitation as a promise kept, assuring residents that the improved road would provide safer and smoother access to homes, schools and other community facilities.

She also informed residents that Yomi Kuye Street in Shangisha would equally benefit from similar intervention, noting that both projects reflect her determination to transform infrastructure across Ward B and the entire Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.

Community leaders praised the council boss for fulfilling her commitment. The Chairman of the Magodo CDA recalled that shortly after he emerged as chairman three years ago, members of the association visited the Mayoress to seek intervention on the road. According to him, she promised to fix it and has now lived up to that promise.

Dr. Remi Shofoluwe, a resident, expressed excitement over the development, stating that the poor state of the road had often discouraged visitors from coming to his residence. He offered prayers for the Mayoress, describing the project as a major relief for the community.

The Chairman of the Magodo Residents Association (MRA), Dr. Niyi Odunsi, also commended the Mayoress, recalling that during a December visit to her office, she assured them the road would be fixed. He described her as a leader who is always willing to listen and respond to community needs.

At Yomi Kuye Street, Acting CDA Chairman Mr. Idahosa praised the Mayoress for keeping her word, noting that she had promised the road would be addressed before the end of February. He appealed for the installation of street lights to further enhance safety in the area.

During the interaction with residents, another community member raised concerns about the condition of Olabisi Road. In response, the Mayoress explained that the road had last been rehabilitated about 30 years ago and assured residents that it was due for attention.

She also responded to concerns raised by the Zonal Chairman regarding the state of the health centre, promising that the council would build an outstanding healthcare facility for the community.

Princess Bada reiterated that the flag-off of both roads goes beyond construction, describing it as a deliberate step toward building safer, more connected and more livable communities.

She assured residents that her administration would continue to listen, act and deliver projects that make a meaningful difference in their lives, calling for continued support and cooperation as development efforts progress across the council area.
