Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) has inaugurated a new Scholarship Board Committee as part of efforts to strengthen educational support for indigenous students in Ikorodu Kingdom. The inauguration ceremony was held at the IKODASS Secretariat.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of IKODASS, Alhaji Kolawole Fatai Olayiwola (DCIO), announced a significant expansion of the association’s scholarship scheme, revealing that the number of beneficiaries increased from 99 students in the previous year to 250 students in 2026.

He further disclosed that one beneficiary is currently enjoying a fully funded Abdul Aziz Iyere Scholarship, demonstrating the association’s growing commitment to educational development.

The Chairman outlined key priorities of his administration, including improved publicity and communication, close monitoring of beneficiaries, regular academic reporting, compulsory participation in programme activities, and the distribution of 50 free JAMB forms to indigenous students.

He emphasized that accountability and effective communication remain central to the success of the initiative.

He also urged parents to properly supervise their children and ensure that scholarship funds are used strictly for educational purposes, noting that the support provided is an investment in the future of Ikorodu and not a handout.

Members of the newly inaugurated Scholarship Board, in their remarks, assured the association of transparency, diligence, and effective management of the scheme, drawing on their experience in human development and administration.

Those in attendance at the inauguration included Dr. Abiodun Fatai Abatan, Dr. Shittu Taofeek Olawale, Elemuren Rasheed Adeshola, Obafemi Thuwibu Abodun, Samson Bisiinyu, Idowu Hamed, Dr. Sulaiman Taofeek, Ayorinde Quadri, and Kudirat Onafowokan.

Also present were key IKODASS executives, including the Chairman, Alhaji Kolawole Fatai Olayiwola (DCIO); the General Secretary, Prince Elemuren Rasheed Adeshola; the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Oshikoya Oludare; and an Executive Member, Mr. Alejo Jamiu.
