Breaking barriers in digital literacy, The Lagos West Senatorial District Representative in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Hon. Anisere Peter, has launched a transformative AI workshop, equipping young people with the skills needed to thrive in the future job market.

The two-day virtual programme, themed “AI and the Future of Work,” was held on the 27th and 28th January 2026, in partnership with Skillzup Career Hub. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to promote youth development and digital readiness across Lagos West Senatorial District.

Over 200 participants registered for the workshop, with the daily attendance ranging between 80 and 100 youths, while the programme reached more than 5,000 people across various digital platforms.

The workshop targeted students, graduates, and entrepreneurs, focusing on practical awareness of Artificial Intelligence, real-life applications of AI tools, and emerging career and business opportunities in the digital economy.

The sessions featured expert presentations and live demonstrations by AI professionals and tech innovators, including Abdul-Malik Adebayo, Bayomi as Speakers, Aribisola Ibrahim, and Jubril Ifekoya, who served as AI builders and presenters.

Key discussions centred on the impact of AI on jobs, the importance of upskilling, and the use of AI in education, business decision-making, and civic solutions.

Participants were also introduced to locally relevant, AI-powered tools designed to address everyday challenges.

At the conclusion of the programme, participants received certificates of AI literacy and reported improved understanding of how Artificial Intelligence is shaping industries, clearer insight into future-ready skills, and renewed interest in continuous learning.

The workshop marked a significant milestone in advancing youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and workforce preparedness across the Lagos West Senatorial District and beyond.
