Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has conducted its January monthly environmental clean-up exercise as part of ongoing efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment across communities within the council area.
The clean-up followed concerns raised by residents over waste accumulation in some locations and was carried out in Olomowewe, Origanrigan, Idasho, and Ilekuru towns.
The exercise was undertaken on the directive of the Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), with the council’s Environmental Department leading the operation. The department, headed by Mrs. Gbemiyi Grace, focused on sweeping streets, clearing refuse, and opening up previously blocked areas to improve sanitation and free movement.
Residents of the affected communities expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting that the exercise has helped to improve environmental conditions and reduce health risks associated with poor waste management.
Lekki LCDA has urged residents to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean by adhering to proper waste disposal practices, stressing that collective action is essential to sustaining a safe and hygienic environment across the council area.
