The Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in collaboration with the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO), has organised a public awareness programme on safe drinking water, aimed at promoting improved water quality, sanitation and hygiene practices within the council area.

The programme highlighted the critical role of safe drinking water, proper sanitation and good hygiene in safeguarding public health and sustaining a clean and healthy environment for residents.

Speaking at the event, representatives of LASWARCO and Lekki LCDA stressed the need for communities to adopt safe water practices, noting that access to clean and regulated water remains a key factor in preventing waterborne diseases and improving overall wellbeing.

The awareness programme brought together government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, water service stakeholders, school administrators, health officers and residents of Lekki LCDA, fostering inclusive dialogue on water safety and environmental health.

Organisers noted that the initiative also served as a platform to strengthen collaboration between regulatory authorities and local communities, with the goal of improving access to safe drinking water and enhancing compliance with water quality standards across the LCDA.

The organisers reaffirmed their commitment to sustained public sensitisation and partnerships to ensure that residents of Lekki LCDA have access to safe, reliable and affordable drinking water.
