
Rep. Babajimi Benson, the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has flagged off the construction of the 3.5-kilometre Mowo Nla Road, marking another major step in infrastructural development within Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
The road project will improve access and ease transportation for residents of Igbodu, Bagidan, Jajo, Mowo Nla, Ewuowa, Shonle and Magbon communities, while also stimulating economic activities across the axis.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Rep. Babajimi Benson expressed deep appreciation to the Mowo Nla community for their consistent support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He noted that the community deserved the road project, revealing that Mowo Nla recorded the second-highest number of votes in Ikorodu Federal Constituency during elections.
He assured residents that the Contractor has promised the road would be completed and commissioned by ending of April, urging the people to continue supporting progressive governance.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Abdul-Lateef Adedayo Ladega, thanked Rep. Benson for his sustained commitment to the development of Ikorodu.
He emphasized that the administration’s development drive would not be limited to road construction alone, but would also extend to schools and other key sectors within the local government.
The Lagos State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Muyideen Jokomba commended Rep. Babajimi Benson for his sustained efforts in projecting Ikorodu to the forefront of political and developmental discourse in Lagos State.
The APC scribe also used the occasion to urge members of the All Progressives Congress to take advantage of the ongoing membership revalidation exercise.
He disclosed that Ikorodu Division has so far recorded the highest number of revalidated members in Lagos State, a development he attributed to strong grassroots mobilization and party unity in the area.
Also speaking, Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency I, applauded Rep. Benson for his impactful leadership and thanked the community for their unwavering support. He noted that such cooperation has made development easier and more effective.
In his remarks, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (Hon. AMA) commended the road project, describing it as timely and beneficial to the people of Mowo Nla and adjoining communities.
The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) praised Rep. Benson for his numerous contributions, describing him as a leader who has consistently demonstrated concern for the welfare of the people. He encouraged residents to continue praying for the lawmaker and urged the community to remain united in publicizing his achievements.
Representatives of the Igbo community pledged their full support for the APC, assuring of 100 percent electoral support in appreciation of the visible developmental projects facilitated by Rep. Babajimi Benson.
The event concluded with closing remarks by the Ward Councillor, Hon. Oladimeji, who expressed gratitude to Rep. Benson for the intervention. He stated that the road would significantly reduce hardship, minimize loss of lives and property, and create more economic opportunities for residents, while reaffirming the ward’s continued loyalty and support.
Dignitaries present at the event included Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Basorun Babatunde Rotinwa, Dr. Adeola Jokomba, Hon. Lanre Balogun, members of the Council of Baales, community leaders, party leaders, and other stakeholders.
