The Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), has established new functional libraries in eight public primary schools across the council area, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen basic education and promote a reading culture among pupils.
The programme kicked off at LG Primary School, Ilege, where a fully equipped library space has been provided to give pupils access to age-appropriate books and essential learning materials that support effective teaching and learning.
With the completion of the new libraries, the number of public primary schools with adequate library facilities in Lekki LCDA has increased from four to twelve, representing a significant boost to educational infrastructure within the council.
Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Chairman noted that the library project will be extended to additional schools, with each facility tailored to meet the learning needs of pupils at the primary level.
He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to investing in education as a key driver of human capital development, adding that other beneficiary schools under the programme will be highlighted in subsequent reports.
