Princess Basirat Adetutu Banjoko, the Council Leader of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Councillor representing Ward C1, has brought relief and festive cheer to residents of her constituency through the distribution of food items to constituents as part of activities marking the Yuletide season.

The gesture, which saw the distribution of essential food items including bags of rice and garri to 250 constituents, was aimed at supporting residents during the festive period and reinforcing the values of love, care, and community spirit.

The initiative attracted constituents, community leaders, and political stakeholders who gathered to witness and benefit from the outreach.

Speaking at the event, Princess Banjoko explained that the initiative was driven by her desire to give back to the people she represents, especially during a season known for sharing and compassion.

She noted that the Yuletide period is a time to spread happiness and put smiles on people’s faces, stressing that the welfare of her constituents remains a top priority. According to her, the distribution of food items was a simple but meaningful way of giving back to society and appreciating the people for their continued support.

She also used the occasion to deliver her New Year message, urging residents to remain courageous and prepared for the tasks ahead. Expressing optimism about the future, the Council Leader stated her strong belief that 2026 would be an outstanding year for the nation and the people of Igbogbo-Baiyeku.

She reaffirmed her confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing hope that ongoing reforms would yield positive results and bring improved living conditions and more smiles to Nigerians.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Taiwo Orenuga, commended Princess Banjoko for her consistent commitment to the welfare of the people. He described her as a dedicated leader who has continued to deliver impactful projects since her first term in office, noting that she has not relaxed despite currently serving a second term.

Hon. Orenuga highlighted some of her achievements, including the rehabilitation of a building at Methodist Primary School and the construction of a borehole to provide clean water for the community, among other notable interventions.

Also speaking at the event, Alhaja Asake Wahab, the Iya Oloja General of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, described the Yuletide season as a period of love and giving. She applauded the Council Leader for her compassion and people-centered leadership, praising her for consistently putting the needs of residents first in the discharge of her duties.

Other political leaders and community stakeholders present at the event also lauded Princess Banjoko’s initiative, emphasizing that access to food remains a critical need for many households, particularly during the festive season. They described the gesture as timely and impactful, noting that it reflects responsive leadership and a genuine concern for the wellbeing of the people.
