In a powerful reinforcement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda at the grassroots, the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has once again translated federal policy into real-life relief for the people, as over 2,500 residents benefited from a large-scale distribution of Renewed Hope rice on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

The intervention, held at Rep. Benson’s Constituency Office in Ikorodu, cut across social and age groups, reaching elderly men and women, youths, and middle-aged residents drawn from communities across the Ikorodu Division. For many beneficiaries, the exercise went beyond festive goodwill – it was a timely response to prevailing economic realities and a reassurance that the government truly remembers the people.

The atmosphere at the distribution centre was charged with gratitude as beneficiaries, visibly astonished by the quantity and quality of the rice received, openly offered prayers and commendations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Rep. Babajimi Benson, and the iCare Foundation team. The prayers, spontaneous and heartfelt, echoed the growing confidence of the people in a leadership that delivers.

A major highlight of the exercise was its transparent and inclusive selection process. Beneficiaries were pre-identified through Direct Beneficiary Access Cards distributed to residents of remote and underserved communities within the constituency, ensuring that the intervention reached those who truly needed it most – an approach widely praised for its fairness and organisation.

Speaking on behalf of Rep. Babajimi Benson, who was unavoidably absent, the Director-General of the iCare Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, described the exercise as a clear expression of the lawmaker’s long-standing commitment to people-centred representation.

“This is what the Renewed Hope Agenda looks like when it gets to the grassroots,” Mayor Sanwoola said. “For Rep. Babajimi Benson, governance must not end at policy formulation; it must touch lives, reduce hardship, and restore dignity – especially at moments like this festive season.”

He added that Rep. Benson remains deeply appreciative of President Tinubu’s resolve to prioritise the welfare of Nigerians and continues to see it as his responsibility to ensure that federal interventions meaningfully impact constituents at the local level.

Mayor Sanwoola further reaffirmed that similar initiatives would remain a consistent feature of Rep. Benson’s engagement with the people, noting that the lawmaker’s representation philosophy is anchored on accessibility, compassion, and measurable impact.

The smooth conduct of the distribution and the overwhelming turnout once again underscored Rep. Babajimi Benson’s enduring bond with the people of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, while also spotlighting the iCare Foundation as a dependable platform for delivering social support and strengthening trust between government and the governed.
