Prince Abdul-Lateef Adedayo Ladega, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, on Monday presented a ₦5.410 billion 2026 Budget of Prosperity to the Legislative Arm, outlining a people-centred financial plan designed to accelerate development, enhance service delivery, and improve the welfare of residents across the local government.

The presentation, held at the Legislative Chamber, was attended by the Vice Chairman, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Wasiu Shotomiwa, honourable councillors, members of the management team including heads of departments and units, community leaders and traditional rulers, key stakeholders, and members of the press.

Presenting the budget proposal, Prince Ladega highlighted key achievements recorded within the last four months of his administration. These include the provision of free summer coaching and GCE forms for students, commencement of new road construction projects, installation of solar-powered boreholes, the launch of the Ladega Food Bank initiative (“Mudun Mudun Ladega”), and a mega empowerment programme that benefitted over 500 residents.

He also underscored initiatives aimed at deepening citizen engagement and improving service delivery, such as the IjoBa Ladega radio programme, provision of laptops for management teams, healthcare enrollment for senior citizens, and sustained environmental advocacy.

The proposed ₦5,410,005,787.88 budget is anchored on the administration’s S.E.E.D. Agenda—Security, Education, Enhanced Healthcare, and Development.

According to the Chairman, the spending plan prioritises infrastructure development, education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, security, and economic growth.

He explained that the budget was developed through extensive public consultations, stakeholder engagements, and ward-to-ward interactions, ensuring that it is realistic, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the people.

Responding on behalf of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Wasiu Shotomiwa commended the Executive Chairman for presenting what he described as a “well-thought-out and inclusive ₦5.41 billion budget.” He assured the House of its readiness to carry out its constitutional responsibilities through diligent scrutiny, constructive engagement, and timely consideration of the proposal.

He further called for sustained cooperation between the Executive and the Legislature, noting that meaningful prosperity can only be achieved through unity of purpose, mutual respect, and shared commitment to good governance.

Both arms of government reaffirmed their commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent implementation, pledging that every naira appropriated under the ₦5.41 billion 2026 Budget of Prosperity would translate into visible and measurable impact for residents. The budget marks a significant step towards building a more inclusive, progressive, and prosperous Ikorodu Local Government.
