The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has announced plans to organise a one-day workshop for hospitality businesses and entertainment operators across the state as part of efforts to regulate noise pollution and protect the environment during the yuletide season.

The workshop, scheduled for Friday, 19 December 2025, is aimed at engaging key stakeholders in the hospitality and entertainment sectors on the importance of moderating noise levels, particularly during the festive period, due to its negative impact on human health and the environment.

Speaking during a media interview, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Tunde Ajayi, disclosed that the workshop, titled “Harmonizing Hospitality Industry with the Environment” and themed “Effective Noise Control and Compliance,” will bring together operators and owners of nightlife venues, event centres, restaurants, bars, hotels, lounges, disc jockeys (DJs), and other players within the entertainment industry.

Ajayi revealed that the event will hold at the State Treasury Office Resource Centre, Assbifi Road, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, and will commence at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, 19 December. He explained that the workshop is designed to help hospitality businesses better understand and comply with environmental standards, avoid regulatory penalties, and operate successfully within the provisions of Lagos State environmental laws and regulations before, during and after the yuletide.

According to him, the workshop is expected to attract top government functionaries, including the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab; the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Environment, Engr. Olakunle Rotimi; and the Permanent Secretary, Office of Environmental Services, Dr. Omobolaji Tajudeen Gaji. Other dignitaries expected at the event include heads of relevant government parastatals and agencies, among others.

The LASEPA boss noted that participants will receive practical guidance on responsible business operations, effective noise management and environmental best practices, which are essential for sustaining a safe, healthy and harmonious urban environment.

While encouraging operators in the hospitality and entertainment industry to actively participate in the engagement, Ajayi stated that the workshop is aimed at improving compliance, promoting sustainability and supporting the continued growth of the sector in Lagos State.

He also assured residents that LASEPA is working round the clock to ensure that Lagosians enjoy a quiet, peaceful and noise-free yuletide season. Wishing residents a Merry Christmas in advance, Ajayi urged Lagosians, regardless of language, origin or tribe, to continue supporting the state government’s efforts toward delivering a cleaner, safer and pollution-free Lagos.
