Rep. Babajimi Benson, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, on Saturday, December 13, carried out another round of working visits to ongoing road construction projects across the constituency, reaffirming his commitment to infrastructure development and improved living conditions for residents.
The inspection tour, which was undertaken in the company of members of the iCare Foundation, party leaders and other key stakeholders, commenced at Solebo Estate. At the estate, five internal roads are currently being reconstructed simultaneously to enhance mobility, safety and the overall quality of life for residents and road users. As one of Ikorodu’s foremost residential estates, Solebo Estate is being restored to its former status through the comprehensive reconstruction of its internal road network.
The federal lawmaker and his team also inspected the ongoing 7.5-kilometre Agbede–Ita Oluwo Road project, which was flagged off in late September. Rep. Benson expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the project, noting that the positive feedback and appreciation from residents were deeply encouraging.
He described the road as a long-desired intervention that would significantly improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges, attract investments and boost economic activities across the benefiting communities.
According to Rep. Benson, the road projects are a clear demonstration of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which is focused on people-centred development, inclusive growth and the delivery of infrastructure that provides real value to everyday lives.
He also expressed gratitude to party leaders across the division and all stakeholders who accompanied the team from one project site to another, stressing that collective efforts were helping to rewrite Ikorodu’s development story through roads that connect people and create pathways for future opportunities.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, acknowledged the roles of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Lagos State Government in providing an enabling policy environment that supports collaboration and effective service delivery across all levels of government.

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West Local Government, Hon. (Chief) Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, expressed appreciation for the construction and linkage of five roads within his council area, noting that improved connectivity would boost commercial activities, reduce travel stress and enhance living standards.
On his part, the Mayor of Ikorodu North LCDA, Mayor Ameen Olawale Apanishile, described the Agbede Road project as long overdue, adding that its construction would bring lasting relief to residents, open up the area and accelerate social and economic development.
Speaking on behalf of community leaders, the Chairman of the Ikorodu North LCDA Community Development Committee, Prince Ogunbanwo Adeniran, praised the federal lawmaker and other stakeholders for prioritising grassroots needs. He disclosed that the road projects connect no fewer than nine communities, thereby significantly improving access and interaction.
He added that the enhanced road network would shorten travel time, ease movement, improve access to markets and essential services, and drive overall growth. Prince Ogunbanwo reaffirmed the support of host communities for the projects and called for sustained collaboration to ensure proper maintenance and long-term benefits.
