The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Prince Adedayo Ladega, on Monday declared open a two-day budget retreat for the 2026 fiscal year, themed “Budget of Prosperity.” The event, held at L’Eola Hotel, Maryland, Ikeja, brought together management staff, key stakeholders, and policy drivers to chart a development-focused financial plan for the coming year.
In his opening address, Hon. Ladega said the chosen theme was a direct reflection of his administration’s commitment to lifting residents out of poverty and improving their quality of life. He noted that the 2026 budget must reflect the promises made during the campaign—to move citizens from subsistence living into a phase of shared prosperity.
The Chairman emphasized that the government’s direction continues to be guided by the S.E.E.D Agenda, representing Security, Education, Enhanced Healthcare, and Development. He described these four pillars as the true building blocks of prosperity, stressing that progress in each area would naturally translate into improved living conditions for the people of Ikorodu.
According to him, securing the community, investing in education, strengthening healthcare systems, and driving sustainable development across all sectors are non-negotiable priorities that will shape the 2026 fiscal plan.
Hon. Ladega stated that the retreat was an opportunity for the administration to align its priorities with the S.E.E.D framework and produce a budget that is simple, realistic, and impactful. He urged participants to ensure that revenue strategies are strengthened, spending is prudent, and service delivery remains effective so the budget can deliver tangible benefits.
While declaring the retreat open, he called on all participants to bring forward their best ideas, intellectual contributions, and sincere dedication to the progress of Ikorodu. He noted that the deliberations and decisions reached at the retreat would significantly influence the future of the communities and define the legacy of the administration.
Hon. Ladega thanked stakeholders for their continuous support and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to steering Ikorodu toward sustainable and lasting prosperity.
