The Grassroot Movement for Tinubu (GMT) 2027 has reiterated its commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence as key political and religious figures gathered for an interfaith prayer gathering in Lagos.

The event brought together Christian, Muslim leaders, political stakeholders, and supporters in a show of solidarity for Nigeria’s peace and progress.

In his welcome address, the Director General of the Grassroot Movement for Tinubu 2027, Lagos Chapter, Hon. Bisi Yusuf, emphasized that Nigeria remains united despite attempts to create division. He stressed that there is no genocide in the country and highlighted that Muslims and Christians continue to coexist peacefully.

He explained that members of both faiths eat, drink, and associate freely, demonstrating a collective resolve to reject banditry and disunity.

He reaffirmed that the Movement will continue to promote harmonious relationships across ethnic and religious lines.

The Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, also addressed the gathering, noting the importance of collective prayer in the face of insecurity. He stated that Nigerians, regardless of religious affiliation, remain one family and regularly celebrate festive seasons together.

He reaffirmed that the country is not experiencing genocide and expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s security efforts, especially the recent appointment of a new Minister of Defence.

According to him, the minister’s strong security background positions him to work effectively with the service chiefs, and the nation would soon begin to witness positive outcomes.

Cardinal James Omolaja Odumbaku described the interfaith prayer gathering as a strong demonstration of Nigeria’s unbreakable unity. He noted that this was the second of such meetings, following an earlier one held in Ibeju-Lekki for Lagos and Nigeria. He maintained that nothing would divide the country, pointing to the joint participation of Christians and Muslims as clear evidence of unity.

Odumbaku also expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, stating that the President has the people’s interest at heart and remains firmly positioned for continued victory.

Hon. Ogunkelu Sylvester, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency II, underscored the unwavering commitment of Lagos State leaders as they work closely with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) to tackle security challenges nationwide.
