The Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, celebrated its 2025 Harvest Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 30, 2025. The theme was “Harvest of Spiritual Overflow”. The service brought together top Lagos State government officials, religious leaders, and congregants for a day of gratitude, worship, and spiritual reflection.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who served as the Father of the Day, was represented by the Special Adviser on Christian Affairs, Rev. Adebukola Adeleke. Delivering the Governor’s goodwill message, he expressed profound appreciation to God for the privilege of celebrating another season of thanksgiving. He described the Chapel of Christ the Light as a spiritual sanctuary that nurtures faith and inspires service across the state.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that Harvest Thanksgiving goes beyond physical offerings, noting that the essence of the celebration lies in reflecting on the year’s challenges, victories, fulfilled hopes, and unanswered prayers. He stressed that symbolic seeds of patience, unity, compassion, and diligence sown throughout the year are just as vital as material contributions.

The Governor commended the chapel’s clergy and members for sustaining an atmosphere of prayer and spiritual growth. He prayed that the coming year would bring peace, abundance, strength, and testimonies to all families. He encouraged Lagosians to keep building a state where faith strengthens governance and unity remains a key driver of development.

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, represented by Mrs. Oluwatoyin Suarau, also delivered a goodwill address in line with the theme. She explained that “Harvest of Spiritual Overflow” from John 7:38 represents the abundant grace believers receive through the Holy Spirit. She urged worshippers to cultivate a lifestyle of gratitude, obedience, and spiritual steadfastness as the state approaches 2026.

She commended the steady physical and spiritual growth of the chapel and encouraged members to remain committed to humanitarian works that advance the Kingdom of God. She further prayed that God would exceed expectations and continue to strengthen the church’s impact.

The Guest Preacher, Rt. Revd. Sunday Olasiji Onadipe, Bishop of the Methodist Church, Badagry Diocese, delivered a powerful sermon on the deeper meaning of harvest. He noted that while fruits and monetary gifts are important, God desires the harvest of spiritual virtues.

“When we celebrate harvest, we often focus on the material things,” he said. “But God expects us to harvest the fruits of the Spirit. When we do this, we can impact our society much more. Our lives should reflect the teachings and ways of Christ so that people can see Christianity in us.”

The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, represented by Mr. Oyebola Sunkanmi, echoed this message by urging worshippers to tune their “spiritual antenna” to hear God’s still voice. He encouraged them to sow the seeds of God’s word deeply in their hearts so they can produce fruits capable of transforming their homes and society.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Harvest Planning Committee and 2nd Vice Chairman of the Church, Mr. Peter Omokaro, expressed gratitude to God for the success of the event.

He assured that next year’s harvest would surpass this year’s achievements and encouraged members to remain steadfast in faith as God continues to move mightily in the church.
