Alimosho Local Government, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, on Friday, November 21, 2025, celebrated its first 100 days of governance with the commissioning of multiple development projects and the launch of new community-focused initiatives.

The milestone event, held at the council secretariat, included the inauguration of road projects on Bamgbola and Bester Streets, the newly completed CDC building, a renovated central mosque and chapel, a public toilet facility, the launch of the Alimosho Community Rights and Advocacy Centre, the commissioning of a new Customary Court, and a cash empowerment programme aimed at supporting local residents.

The Chairman described the day as symbolic of both physical and communal progress, likening the projects to “good roads” that shorten the distance between the people and justice, understanding, and opportunity.

He highlighted the Advocacy Centre as a lighthouse for residents, providing guidance on civic duties, rights, conflict resolution, and peaceful coexistence. The new Customary Court was noted as a mechanism to deliver swift, culturally grounded justice, ease the burden on higher courts, and uphold fairness within the community.

The road projects are designed to improve mobility and commercial activity in Egbeda and Bester Street, while the newly renovated CDC building, mosque, chapel, and public toilet strengthen social infrastructure, community cohesion, and sanitation. Johnson emphasized that these initiatives are intended to grow the community in structure, purpose, and service, not merely in population.

The cash empowerment programme targeted artisans, small business owners, and other residents, providing financial support to stabilize or expand their economic activities. The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to grassroots development, economic inclusion, and practical support for residents facing economic challenges.

Johnson expressed gratitude to the Legal Unit, judiciary staff, community leaders, and council personnel who contributed to the successful completion of the projects, noting that collaboration makes large-scale achievements possible.

He also appealed to residents to continue fulfilling civic responsibilities, including paying rates and taxes on time, to enable sustained delivery of development under the “WISE Agenda.”

The chairman reiterated that the projects mark just the beginning of a broader transformation agenda for Alimosho. He encouraged unity, cooperation, and active participation from residents to ensure the local government area continues to grow in peace, prosperity, and purpose.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon, has expressed strong commendation for the performance of the Alimosho Local Government Chairman, highlighting visible improvements across the community. He noted that recent projects—including road upgrades, enhancement of the CDC office, and improvements at the customary court—reflect genuine value addition to the local government.

Okanlawon urged the chairman to sustain the pace of development, emphasizing that residents deserve continuous delivery of impactful projects. He also appealed to the people of Alimosho to remain law-abiding, peaceful, and committed to fulfilling their civic duties, including prompt payment of rates and taxes.

Similarly, Hon. Luqman Orelope, representing Alimosho Constituency 01 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, stated that the local government’s accomplishments—ranging from the establishment and renovation of customary courts to road rehabilitation, construction of public buildings, creation of advocacy centres, and the rollout of a new empowerment programme—have strengthened public confidence and reinforced connections between the government and the community.

Traditional rulers, led by Oba Akeeb Adebowale, the Alaye of Orisunbare Kingdom, also lauded the chairman’s performance, describing the achievements recorded within 100 days as impressive and worthy of recognition.

At the empowerment programme, beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support received. Beneficiaries from the Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans (LASCOTA) and other associations described the initiative as timely and impactful, especially given the current economic challenges.

Many of them noted that the financial support and tools provided would significantly enhance their daily income and business stability.

Beneficiaries from various trades—including refrigeration repair and fashion design, Catering, Hairdressing among others praised the local government chairman for extending opportunities that would help them expand their businesses and contribute more meaningfully to the community’s economic growth.
