
Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area on Tuesday marked its first 100 days of leadership with the commissioning of several key community projects. These included a new Marriage Registry and CDC Hall at LASTMA Yard, Agbala, as well as reconstructed staff quarters, a waiting area, and an area office at the Odo-Nla Primary Health Centre. The council also presented a new ambulance and revenue buses. The event opened with prayers led by the Chief Imam of Ikorodu North.
During the ceremony, Executive Chairman Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile outlined the administration’s efforts to strengthen governance, inclusivity, and infrastructure across the LCDA. He highlighted initiatives under what the council describes as a “New Deal,” focused on healthcare, education, sanitation, improved service delivery, and transparent leadership. Completed interventions include culverts, school renovations, upgrades to water access, and support for small businesses.
He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to further development and clarified that the Magistrate Court project was fully reconstructed, not merely renovated. He also acknowledged the support of residents, describing them as central to the administration’s achievements.
The Lagos State Health District II, represented by Dr. Rahmat Adesesan, delivered a message from the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Dayo Lajide, commending the LCDA’s collaboration with the state health sector. The message referenced the recent medical outreach at Losi-Oba PHC and noted the expected impact of the new staff quarters on workforce welfare and 24-hour service delivery.
The newly presented ambulance was also recognized as an important addition to emergency and referral operations. The state government described Ikorodu North’s health initiatives as aligned with its vision for an efficient and people-focused healthcare system.
Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, delivered a strong commendation of the chairman’s performance.
He applauded the chairman’s credibility, maturity, and commitment to duty, stating that the quality and speed of work done within just 100 days shows strong leadership capacity.
He prayed for divine guidance and strength for the chairman, urging the people of Ikorodu North to continue supporting him to achieve more.
Ogunleye further emphasized that governance is measured by visible impact, according to him, Ikorodu North residents “can already see tangible progress.”
Traditional rulers and community leaders expressed strong support for the administration. The Eweye of Isiwu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Olukayode David Raji, encouraged residents to remain supportive and acknowledged the level of development recorded within the short period.
The CDC Chairman, Prince Adeniran Ogunbanjo, commended the administration for prioritizing meaningful action and infrastructure delivery. Former Deputy Governor Abiodun Ogunleye also praised the credibility and work ethic of the current leadership.
Representatives from various communities delivered remarks acknowledging improvements across the LCDA. These included Alaba Pitters of Oju Ewe Road, Iya Afin, Vice Chairman Adewuyi Sunday, leaders from Agbede, and the South-South Women’s Group. They cited developments in road infrastructure, village lighting, and healthcare delivery as significant progress.
ImpactTer Seyitan and the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Wajero Kehinde Temitope, highlighted the council’s support for the Ilera Eko initiative and upgrades across primary health centres.
The event drew a broad group of dignitaries, among them Alhaja Kudrat Iya Oloja; Council Manager Mrs. Oluranti Adeyemi; CAN Chairman; the Chief Imam of Ikorodu North Council; Mrs. Salahu JP; former Chairman Hon. Adekule Festus Oyedagba; Hon. Okeowo; a representative of Hon. Jimi Benson; Alhaji Taiwo, the Education Secretary; two former Leaders of the House; road representatives; the Chairman of Persons with Disabilities; the NYCN Chairman; the Laschoter; all Ward Chairmen; the King of Esiwu Kingdom; the Baale and other royal fathers; Ward Councillors E1, E2, E3, and E4; and the Chairman of Igbo Bayeku LCDA.
Closing the ceremony, the chairman expressed appreciation to all stakeholders and called for sustained unity to support ongoing and future development. Residents voiced optimism as the LCDA moves forward with planned projects in market expansion, school upgrades, road rehabilitation, and administrative improvements.
