The Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to inclusive and development-driven governance during the 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum, held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Sen. Bayo Osinowo Hall, Ikosi-Isheri Secretariat.
The forum brought together community leaders, market associations, youth representatives, and civil society groups to deliberate on the forthcoming “Budget of Renewed Hope.” Bada emphasized that the exercise was not a routine gathering but an accountability platform designed to ensure that residents directly shape the budget’s priorities and outcomes.
Reviewing her administration’s performance, she highlighted the delivery of more than 100 projects in her first term, spanning healthcare, education, road infrastructure, markets, security, and youth empowerment.
Landmark achievements included the construction of the 105-bed Senator Oluremi Tinubu Primary Healthcare Centre, revitalization of the Ikosi Fruit Market, and development of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu International Market.
She noted that her second term had already recorded significant progress within its first 100 days, with nine new roads commissioned, the completion of Phase II of the New Mile 12 International Market, and the distribution of palliatives to 2,000 residents under the Renewed Hope initiative.
Outlining key priorities for 2026, Bada said the administration would intensify investments in infrastructure, expand strategic road networks, and implement a Low-Cost Housing Scheme for working-class families.
Plans are also underway for the construction of a new Onikosi Palace, the renovation of public schools, and the establishment of a Recreational Centre and Modern Fire Station to enhance community safety and engagement.
To strengthen economic resilience, the LCDA will scale up the Renewed Hope Cash Support Scheme, providing ₦100,000 monthly to 500 vulnerable residents, alongside new empowerment initiatives for women and youth entrepreneurs.
A major sustainability effort, tagged “Operation Light Up Ikosi-Isheri,” will introduce solar-powered streetlights to improve security and stimulate night-time commercial activities.
Mayoress reaffirmed that the 2026 budget would align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus vision, ensuring that state and federal development goals translate into tangible impact at the grassroots level.
She concluded by urging residents to continue engaging with the council’s development agenda, expressing confidence that the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA would remain a model for inclusive, responsive, and people-driven governance.
A community leader from Ward C, Mr. Taiwo, expressed deep appreciation for the Mayoress’s commitment to grassroots development. He noted that just a week earlier, four major roads had been commissioned in his Community Development Area (CDA), with plans already in motion for the construction of a fifth. According to him, officials had visited to take measurements, signaling the start of work soon.
He added that in his 38 years as a resident of Ikosi-Isheri, no administration had matched the Mayoress’s record of keeping promises and delivering tangible results.
Responding to questions from Ward D representative, Princess Bada reaffirmed her administration’s readiness to execute major projects in the area, with the construction of the new Onikosi Palace identified as a key priority among other upcoming initiatives.
A representative from Ward F commended her for being the first female chairman of the council and appreciated the ongoing road project at Agiliti as well as the transformation of the Mile 12 International Market. Similarly, a Ward G representative applauded her for the infrastructure improvements in Unity Estate and called for attention to the Maidan road, which links Ikorodu Road.
In her response, the Mayoress confirmed that two roads in the Maidan area had already been flagged off and that the council would use interlocking paving instead of asphalt, following residents’ recommendations. She thanked community members for their prayers and support, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration to sustain progress.
Hon. Kuti, a former councillor from Ward A, also lauded the Mayoress for unprecedented development in the ward, citing the construction of a modern complex, a health centre, and extensive road rehabilitation. He described her leadership as a turning point for the LCDA, noting that many long-abandoned roads had finally received attention.
